Screenshot explosion: Yoshi's Island 2
A plethora of pictures depicting in-game action of the sort you're dying to experience have hit the interwubs running over at French gaming site Jeux-France. In Yoshi's Island 2, Yoshi must aid the likes of Baby Mario, Baby Donkey Kong, and Baby Peach in locating children who have gone missing from the island. This, of course, has nothing to do with the recent arrival of an equally-mysterious floating island in the skies above the already existing island full of Yoshis. Yoshi's Island 2 is currently set for a November release in the US and a January release in Europe.
Yoshi's Island 2 screens
"Yoshi!" You can't help but love how that little green dinosaur announces himself. We are excited, apparently along with the rest of the gaming world, that Yoshi is returning to glory with his new game on the DS, Yoshi's Island 2. We have already discussed the new characters that are making appearances and don't even get us started on what Wi-Fi is all about! We found some new screenshots for everyone to display even more the need to buy this game. Enjoy! [Via QJ Net]
Boxart for Yoshi's Island 2
Baby Wario, Baby Donkey Kong and a Wi-Fi logo standing in all its glory. What more do you need? What we wonder the most about is the Wi-Fi logo. What in this game would use it? We are just as riddled as you, dear reader. Can you play as Baby Wario or Donkey Kong? Is there multiplayer? Will there be an option for single card play? Oh, the questions. This looks like another Fall release that might be a must have. November 13 can't come fast enough. [Thanks JC; Via Gamespot]
2D's glory -- in top five form
This one brought a soft spot to my heart though I'm not sure exactly why. Perhaps it's my old-school gaming nostalgia kicking in, but there's something quite charming about a 2D game in this world of uber three-dimensional madness. Fond memories aside, the good folks at Game Daily put together a nice little list of the "Top Five Most Gorgeous Looking 2D Games." With a mix of old and new, the list's cherry-on-top is the Guilty Gear series -- a personal favorite of mine. If you've never played this insanity-filled fighting series, I suggest you go to your local video store and rent it right away. Other honorable mentions include the PSP titles Loco Roco and Lumines, a couple Yoshi titles, and Metal Slug.
