Hideo Kojima recently put the brakes on the Zone of Enders sequel and revealed a patch is in process for the Zone of Enders HD Collection. The Zone of the Enders HD Collection ran into a bit of drama when it was discovered there were some negative technical disparities between the original games on PS2 and their Xbox 360 and PS3 updates. Siliconera did the translation work of a recent podcast, where Kojima stated the team is reworking the game and will release a patch for the PlayStation 3 version. There's no mention of an Xbox 360 patch. No release window for the patch was mentioned. Kojima also mentioned that "Enders Project," a sequel in the franchise, has had the entire team taken off of it. He is currently re-evaluating what to do with the series.

  • Zone of the Enders HD Collection compared to source material

New comparison videos appear to show incongruities between Zone of the Enders HD Collection and its source games, Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2: The 2nd Runner, as well as disparities between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the HD collection. The most important issue, according to Enders fans that have contacted us, is that both games in ZOEHDC move more slowly than the original PS2 versions. The comparison video seen here shows that mechs, lasers and melee attacks all lack the amped-up pace of the original, as though the game were being played in slightly-slow-motion.Other concerns have been raised over framerate inconsistencies between the 360 and PS3 versions of ZOEHDC, with video comparisons supposedly showing that the 360 version runs at a higher, more consistent average framerate than its PS3 sister. Regardless, neither version consistently runs at the 60-frames-per-second figure stated by the collection's official UK website, rather the majority of the game operates between 30 and 40 FPS.Unfortunately, this isn't the first time such reports have come in regarding an HD rerelease of a Konami classic: Silent Hill HD Collection had its fair share of framerate issues, so much so that a patch was pushed for the PS3 version and Xbox 360 owners were given the option to exchange the game entirely. We've reached out to Konami for a statement and will update with any new information we receive.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater will arrive in 2012, according to series creator Hideo Kojima. The detail confirms wonky words from Konami in late July that the game wouldn't make its announced 2011 launch. Andriasang also reported that Kojima gave an "early to mid 2012" release window for the Zone of the Enders HD Collection. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will launch in Japan on November 23, with the North American launch "this winter." %Gallery-133976% %Gallery-133973%

The KojiPro special E3 site reveals one tantalizing piece of information about the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders collections: they'll be available for transfar directly from Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN. So if you feel bad about having another boxed copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 in your house after buying both the standard and Subsistence versions ... at least you won't have another box this time. The Metal Gear Solid set is due in November; ZOE follows sometime in 2012. The website also has plenty of other information about the collections. Think you know it all? Have you heard Hideo Kojima tell you about it? Have you seen an awkward hug between Kojima and 8-4's Mark MacDonald? Then you haven't transfarred everything about it. You can find that video, along with entirely too many words about transfarring, comparison screens between the PSP and HD Peace Walker, and the SD and HD MGS2, here.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will feature MGS 2, MGS 3: Snake Eater and MGS: Peace Walker -- strangely, the original Metal Gear Solid is absent. Why not just touch up Twin Snakes? Regardless, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available on the PS3 and Xbox and support 1080p graphics and, on the PS3, a neat 'Transfarring' feature where you can transfer your Peace Walker game save from your PSP to your PS3. As for Zone of the Enders HD Collection, it's a collection of Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2, natch. Little beyond its existence was given, outside of a tentative 2012 launch window. It'll also be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the former version supporting the new Transfarring feature -- though in what way we're still trying to get clarification on. Update: Our own Mike Schramm is on-hand at the Konami event in LA and asked for clarification on the Transfarring feature in ZOE HD. "Wait for future announcements," a Konami representative replied. Looks like we'll have to wait for that clarification! The Silent Hill Collection will feature only Silent Hill 2 and 3, touched up in HD. No exact consoles were mentioned.
