Obsidian and Mail.ru have just unveiled Lanber Forest, a key area in the companies' upcoming sci-fantasy MMO Skyforge. Lanber Forest was once "an oasis of pristine nature" distant from industry and politics but is now overrun with a dark evil awakened by a traitorous god, along with more mundane baddies like "looters, smugglers, [and] evil men, who have decided to cash in on the grief of others." That, of course, is where you come in. Read on for the complete lore description and a few screenshots of the (damn pretty) zone.

Two months ago, SOE gave players their first look at the Free Realms' new Sunstone Valley zone. But there's always a difference between eyeballing static pictures and seeing a game in action, isn't there? That's why the team is excited to give players a video tour tomorrow of this upcoming area. Starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 30th, Free Realms developers will broadcast Sunstone Valley's features on Twitch TV. You'll need to be prompt, as the webcast is only expected to take 15 minutes. Sunstone Valley is a rocky canyon that's home to a clan of uppity dwarves, a place called Wheelie Pete's, and the awesome Rumbledome.

If you've got a spider, insect, or creepy-crawly complex of any kind, you might want to skip the latest TERA fly-through video from En Masse Entertainment. The clip is straight out of an arachnophobe's worst nightmare, as it takes place deep inside a huge stone cavern filled with egg sacs and giant hairy-legged spiders. The cavern is a newly revealed zone called Arachnaea, and its denizens are apparently being conjured by evil priests aligned with the goddess Arachne in order to gather sacrificial offerings from a nearby town. The clip clocks in at a tad over one minute in length, which is plenty of time to be creeped out by the spiders and their sinister surroundings. Check out all the gory details after the cut or at PC Gamer.

With the next beta event for Trion Worlds' upcoming fantasy MMO RIFT scheduled to begin on January 25th, new information on the game has been flowing thick and fast. In the latest reveal, Trion has released details and screenshots of the Mathosian Empire. Nestled in the mountains, the Mathosian Empire was an ancient and powerful faction of human hunters ruled over by King Jostyr Mathos. Using Dwarven steel and Elven magic, the Mathosians took war to the dragons, banishing them in the name of keeping the flatlands of Telara safe. The empire's rule spread across the RIFT map, and they constructed great cities like Port Scion. With King Jostyr's passing, the Mathosian Empire fell into a vicious civil war between his sons Aedraxis and Zareph. The Shade War, as it came to be known, resulted in the fracturing of the ward seals keeping Telara safe from the destructive influence of the planes. With the seal broken, the empire now lies in ruin, with the mighty Port Scion now overrun by the Deathtouched and dangerous planar openings now ravaging Telara. Trion has released several new screenshots of what remains of the Mathosian Empire, which can be found in the gallery below. %Gallery-101448%

Frogster, publishers of the free-to-play fantasy MMORPG Runes of Magic, has just announced the release of a brand-new adventuring zone called the Northern Janost Forest. The new zone, also known as Black Blood Forest thanks to some of its beastmen inhabitants, is previewed at Alltern8. While the article is light on specific game details, it does detail a fair amount of background and lore information. The zone features two main plot lines, the first concerning a race of warriors known as the Leonines of Angren and the second revolving around Morrok Wallinder, a dragon envoy. The zone also features a new epic quest called The Degenerated Elves, which looks to involve players in a war between the Angren and the Jyr'na elves. "Before the Jyr'na Elves went mad, they co-existed peacefully with the nature-loving Angren, but as they started to research forbidden magic, the Jyr'na Elves were overcome with an endless lust for power. The changes to the plants of Janost Forest affected the habitat of the Angren, and a war broke out making Dimstar Swamp their battlefield," says the article. Check out the full text at Alltern8.
