Skype coming to Palm next month?
We knew it was coming sooner or later, but the guys behind Skype have let it slip that they'll have a version of
their peer-to-peer VoIP software that'll work on Palm handhelds ready sometime next month (a version for
Pocket PCs came out a few weeks ago). It will probably
require some proper WiFi action to work, but we're hoping that maybe, just maybe, the 1xRTT connection on our Treo will
be just enough bandwidth to get this going, especially since Skype is only supposed to need up to 16kbps to get by (and
yes, we know that 1xRTT is burstable and all that).

I hope this works on the UX50. I tried another voip program and the sound was really choppy even though I have wifi. It's probably due to the lack of processor horsepower.

I am considering buying a Sharp Zaurus SL-6000L handheld and a Sprint CF 2031 1xRTT card (and a Sprint data plan). I want to know if it is possible to use the data connection and some VoIP software, perhaps what is available on the Zaurus Software Index (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/search.php?q=Voip), in combination with a service such as iconnect or (maybe skype down the road?) to make cheap phone calls. My concern is that Sprint will not allow it and will instead force me to pay their voice rate of 25 cents/minute. Any experts here?
