Microsoft's Virtual PC 7 ships
Microsoft have finally shipped Virtual PC 7
after 20 months of holding the thing hostage from Mac enthusiasts dying to run PC apps on their 64-bit G5s. The
new version makes use of the 64-bit G5 hardware environment and comes with a Windows XP Professional license.
Other versions are expected over the next few months with Windows XP Home Edition and another without an OS at all for
those who have, shall we say, other sources for their Operating System Of Choice. The guys in Redmond promise 10-
to 30-percent speed increases over previous versions. Will it run Doom 3, though? While we doubt it, we'd
like to know for sure. Be the first to report back here.

I personally tested 1 & 2 in the development of VPC7 in beta form (joke, right?). It supports a wide range of driver interfaces, and there will be a .NET release to the community for BSD hooks, later next spring for the Xcode developer community users.
Doom 3 runs a variety of inhouse 6800s prior to the release in Paris of the new displays. Apple loaned us a few dual 2.5s and some cheezy 1.6s left over in stock. The performance increase was modest for Doom 3 under VPC7 but won't run any higher than 800x600 in lower resolutions - like you expected more?
Enjoy!
I like to know, if the VPN Client (Windows) I use to connect to my company-network with a PC will be usable on the Mac with this new version.
The old Virtual PC 6 couldn't do this.
The client uses IPSec and can be found here:
