Samsung's 2.5Gb chip for 3G cellphones

Samsung 2.5Gb chips

Don't get your hopes up too much on that 2.5Gb, that's a little b (as in bit), which translates to about 320MB total. But this is a multi-chip package, which means that's one chip split four ways: two 128MB NAND flash chips, and two 32MB DRAM chips. So what's that mean? Well, how would you like your next phone to have 256MB flash and 64MB RAM? Yeah, us too. And the bonus is that by combining all these chips into one die, you cut power consumption (these run on 1.8v) and size, leaving room for, say, all your various radio devices (quad-band GSM, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM, DMB, etc.). Oh, the point, right. Samsung's already mass manufacturing these chips, playa.
