AOL launches VoIP phone service

AOL Logo

Good to their word, AOL launched their VoIP Internet phone service today, a bit late to the party perhaps, but they'll no doubt muscle their way into the market just fine. Pricing for new users will be $29.99 per month for the first six months, going up to $39.99 after that. That'll get you unlimited local and long distance calling in the US and Canada and unlimited access to regular AOL service over broadband. Prices for current AOL users is $13.99 for the first three months, increasing to $18.99 thereafter (which makes this not a bad deal if you already happen to have AOL). Global calling plans start at $29.99/month, increasing to $34.99. AOL will also be automatically including enhanced 911 service with all calling plans, a feature other VoIP providers have had some difficulty in offering to their customers.
