Acer's Turion-based Aspire AS5000 reviewed by PC Mag

Acer's Aspire AS5000 is the first PC to use AMD's Mobile Turion 64 — the chipmaker's attempt to retake some laptop share from Intel's Centrino. While AMD's selling the chips for wholesale prices way below Intel's (so what else is new?) the big question is how they perform on the road. PC Mag tried out the AS500 and found that it performed "admirably," with decent response time and battery life. However, they knocked it for its price of $1,099, which lifts it above the range of a typical budget laptop (though it does include a DVD burner, which is still a bit of a rarity in this price range).
