Canadian company to offer UMD movie rentals for the PSP
Earlier this month we looked at the question of whether or not anyone would pick up on the idea of renting UMD movies for the PSP. None of the biggies have bitten yet, but Canadian DVD-by-mail company Movies for Me announced today that they're committing to offer every single UMD movie ever available for the PSP and renting them to customers. They plan to keep large quantities of stock on hand to meet the demand they expect, which right now seems to be limited to Canadian PSP owners — no word on whether they'll open up the service to the deprived southern neighbors of the lucky Canucks.

Went to my local Hastings this weekend and noticed that they not only had the PSP games for rent, but all the UMD movies as well. Perhaps we'll see more chains such as NetFlix doing this.
Hmm...I can't even seem to find more then 3 movies for sale, let alone rent. I would have loved to have this on my flight though. Hello, O'Hare, are you listening?
good for the canadians, it's about time they got something first and we're drooling over what they've got instead of viceversa.
Hey, Canada got the Game Genie first too! And that was just 16-17 years ago!
Two innovations in 20 years... go Canada!
I think it's a waste of time.
so does this thing play halo?
I kind of agree with 'funkyflea'. Vending machine style rental in airports makes a good amount of sense. Or perhaps even making several available for a fee during the flight. One more way to choose your entertainment on the spur of the moment. But you kinda loose a lot of the convenience when you have to premeditate it enough to order these things to rent on line.
Just my slant. I'm sure renting these things will work for some people...
www.gamefly.com has rentals
But, UMD as a format....another media format..it's going to sell 'middle of the road' it won't do very well IMO.
I have laptop, I don't need !@#$ PSP to watch movie while driving.
Has anyone created a video-output hack that will let you watch PSP video and/or play PSP games on a full-size TV? Portable video is nice, but plugging it into the TV for everyone to see is even better. (So says the Archos fanboy, anyway...)
