California bill tries to curb RFID use in state IDs

RFID

A bill in California is quickly moving through the state legislature that would ban the use of RFID chips in state identity documents like student badges, driver's licenses, medical cards and state employee cards, although it would allow for some exceptions (including inmates' prison badges and devices used to pay bridge and road tolls). The bill, known as the Identity Information Protection Act, is apparently the first legislation of its kind in the US and should reach the floor of the State Senate sometime in late May or early June. No comment from Arnold yet on whether or not he'd sign the bill.
