Portable Nintendo GameCube?
So it goes without saying that these pics of a supposed portable GameCube are more likely a concept design than
anything based in physical reality. But still — it would be kinda hot, so we pass it on to you. Even if when closed, it
looks way too eerily like an old Walkman (peep on for the closed pic).
[Thanks, Link]

I'll buy that!
um... for the kids, of course!
Nothing a PSP TFT blast can't handle. :)
Holy Toledo! Where do I get one like that?
why didnt they make somthing like that earler
Hot diggity! I'd actually buy that; sub-$500 and DVD support of course. But truly, it's a beautiful thing.
i think the gamecube is one thing this guy hasn't tackled yet
http://www.benheck.com/News%20Main.htm
I'd buy one of those right off the bat. Screw the PSP. This would be so freaking awesome.
as long as it plays actual GC discs and not some propritary (UMD anyone) nintendo has a sure fire hit......why buy 2 games for for you home and portable, when you can just buy a single game, take you memory card with you and play it on you portable GC....this is a great idea in my opinion.....and may keep the GC alive.....i still love playing it though no new good games have been out for a while (sans metroid prime 2) every other major title is cross platform....so i just pick it fo the psTwo...
Now that would be a handheld worthy of a couple hundred bucks. Incredible launch library, too!
mommy
That is ridiculously cool. Has to be a fake though.. the analog knob would poke a hole in the screen. Still worth drooling over. I'd make it my background if there was a hi-res shot.
-Eli
Oh, please God let this not be a hoax. I'm saving my pennies now.
Well, if it is a hoax, Nintendo should have a look at this and hopefully copy it ;)
#7:
> as long as it plays actual GC discs and not some
> propritary (UMD anyone) nintendo ...
How are GC discs any more or less proprietary than UMD? It's not like GC disc use some open format and you can use them in any other device other than a GC.
Hoax or not, you do have to wonder about the button placement. From the look of it, it would appear to be pretty uncomfortable to hold.
That'll happen alright..when we get fuel cells. Let's be realistic folks, this thing would nuke a battery fairly fast.
if this thing is compatable with the revolution(like the GBA is with the gamecube)then I'm sold!!
PS.I'd buy it any way
Can you imagine it? You're sitting at home, playing the new Legend of Zelda on your GameCube, when you suddenly realise that you've got to leave for uni/work whatever. So you eject the disc, slip it into this baby, and carry on playing it on the bus!
Then you get home and continue from where you left off on the bus!
If this is real, it would be unbelievably cool, and would knock the PSP right out the window, as there would already be an existing library of games for it to play, and there would be no special format needed, as it would play GameCube games.
Oh man I hope this is real ... uuurgghhh (slavers at the thought)
it would be totaly swesome if they made it, i think the screen kinda is back more so the analog can be there without poking it, awesome though
Wow, that's a great mock up. I'd defiantly buy it. I really hope Nintendo uses the Gamecube disks in the next GameBoy.
Jesus, that's awesome! Too bad it's probably a fake. I agree that it's something Nintendo should look at though. That thing is sexy. And if it did play regular Gamecube games...damn, just give me a price and I'm buyin'!
13,
N Fanboys don't think too well in the morning. Well they think less efficently than they do the rest of the day. :) Wait till after lunch to ask the hard hitting questions.
two words: Wi Fi. look at the top-left corner of the bottom part.
PS.If they make it compatable with the DS,
:-0 may be you could unlock things on DS games
using Wi Fi(like using GBA games to unlock stuff on ds games) or vice-versa.
:-)
obviously a computer render by someone who really wants to see this thing happening. Personally, I think this thing would be way too heavy or clunky to be used in a GBA SP manner..
If this would come out i would dump my psp in a second. this would put Sony psp out of business in the handheld market. The analog sticks could be spring loaded, and before you shut it you would kind of suck them back into the system with a small knob on the side or something. Very imaginative. Nintendo Executives should get a look at this.
Malfoy,
I'm sure you're smart enough to understand that the poster meant that the portable system uses the same media as the home console, meaning you don't have to buy the same title twice to have it as a portable game. So, okay, poor choice of words.
Your groundless insults say more about your intelligence than anyone else's. Keep it civil from now on. You're only making yourself look bad.
Well, this would be a neat concept for the so-called "portible" Gamecube. BUT the Revolution is coming out, so whats the point of releasing a console thats portable that plays GC games when a console is coming out thats backwards conpadible AND has wireless (not to mention FREE!) network capibilites? doesn't make sence.
Sweet... I'm sure its fake But I would Get one in the blink of an eye if it cam out... and for all of you that say "it's got to play dvd's" or "oh it's no PSP" you have no clue what a good game is!
0wnage! Sign my stank-ass UP!
FREAKAWESOME!
I would be glad if I hear about battery give bit little longer than PSP.
This does have to be a fake, but it still got me drooling. I'd buy two at double the PSPs price. (Well, okay, at four hundred bucks, I'd only get one.)
But, too bad it's a fake. Just too perfect-looking, meaning the design problems of fitting all this machinery into a device this size haven't been worked out. Fun to dream, though.
I'd buy this day one of launch.
Remember when everybody was speculating that the size of the GCN's discs were because they'd be releasing a portable version at some point?
I've seen the inside of the GCN - it is a single, simple PCB with exactly two major chips on it. It would not be difficult to portable-ize it at this point, I'd think.
I'm 99% sure this is particular set of images is a hoax/fanboy mockup, but in reality this is an ace Nintendo has up their sleeves and I hope at some point they realize it.
Jeff (#27), do you have a link to the "inner Gamecube" pics? I'd love to see just how small the important stuff is in there.
"no new good games have been out for a while (sans metroid prime 2) every other major title is cross platform....so i just pick it fo the psTwo..."
Haven't you played Resident Evil 4? A GC exclusive and according to IGN, EGM, and Game Spot the best looking game of any console.
This would be cooler than the DS or Game Cube itself!
I hope nintendo rools aout the Game Boy Evo soon, it is suposed to be based on GC technology but with the same form factor as the current GBA.

Okay I'm sick of the nintendo haters out there saying "fanboy blah blah blah" or like the posts about "PSP blah blah blah". If this thing came out it would absolutely destroy the PSP in every way. It would have a huge library of games and by the looks of it, play MP3's! SD flashcard flashbacks anyone?
I don't wanna hear any more sony fans say PSP would last for 2 seconds if this sorta thing were released cause I have one, and frankly, movie and especially MP3 playback are rediculous on the thing and seem like mere gimmicks. Oh and they underclock the processor to save battery life. Considering the fact Nintendo wouldn't release anything with bad battery life (gotta love nintendo quality) this thing would kick ass. Look at all the comments already! its only 10 am est! I'm hoping this can work SOMEHOW.
And with Gamecube being developed for after Revolution's release due to similar means of development....this could be the hidden factor that makes companies want to still develope new games! Wireless connection for the new games' multiplayer (and older games somehow?) and connection to the Revolution!?
I dunno how they can pull this off design-wise and whatnot. But this would be THE item to have at christmas (since that was speculated release of the next gameboy) and would breath life way the hell back into the gamecube lineup. Xbox 360 would probably take a major hit from something like this too.
In conclusion, it just would make a hell of a lot of sense to make something like this.
wooooo, i like the glossy black finish and the OLED's on the outer surface. very nice, very nice
Is it just be or does the disk look to big to be a gamecube game. The game cube games have a small center hole, and the inner radius of the pictured disk looks CD sized. Also, if you take into account the small size of a gamecube disk and compare it to how much space the disk takes up on this unit (maybe an inch to each side), this unit would be about the width, but not as long as a CD. A small size would be convenient, but look how much free space there is around the controls in the picture. The joystick and buttons would have to be tiny. Oh, and the screen looks to tall. Anyway, obviously thing is confusing me, it looks both big and small at the same time.
Oh i forgot to mention....
I would personally accept the use of the word "MEGATON" for this particular piece of hardware. :P good 'ol crazy nintendo eh?
Ummmm, there wouldn't be any game on the screen if the disc was ejected like that.
UNLESS this thing has a massive parallel technology hard drive that you could load games on.
Plus I don't think anyone could reach their hands around it comfortably to play it for long amounts of time. It's not exactly as friendly as the Gamecube controller.
(Not to mention the CD in it is huge compared to an actual mini-cd from the GCN. Compare the CD size to the memory card slot on the front (if that's what it is)).
What caught my eye, besides it's sexy, sexy design, was the transport control buttons on the closed pic (play, ff etc), especially the RED one... um, in the audio world that means record. So it begs the question, would it be an DAP and recorded, or would the heavens part and this baby be able to handle video input (gasp, sputter with excitement)? Of course, it's a mockup so what it's really recording is all our geargeek thoughts.
Is there a port in the bottom to plug a GameBoy Player into? :)
Wow. I soo want one. Anyone think this will be the sucessor in the GB line. I heard that the DS was not the "next gen" GB. Whatever it is, I want it. NOW!!
Ok so the picture is probably fake considering all the problems with it. However, it's a great idea and problem people have mentioned can be fixed with a little engineering. Battery life is a potential problem but with the way the tech is advancing it wont be as much of a problem as people think it is in a few months. The analog stick can be lowered to make it not poke through the screen the button cofig can be changed so it works better. Nintendo did say they weren't getting rid of the Gameboy advance line, if this unit also accomidated cartriges it would be gold for nintendo. Add some mini cd support to play music or video and you have one of the best possible portable gaming system anybody has ever thought of. The game library is enough that I'd grab one as soon as I could get my sweaty hands on it. I really think Nintendo should look into this one because I think this would be the best invesment that they could ever make and it would totally blow sony out of the water and show them that they donminate the handheld gaming market.
Yeah, this looks more like what I thought the PSP should look like. It even has a PSP color scheme and an obvious nod to the Sony OLED screens on the front. While it is a really cool design, it would need a car battery to run for any length of time. Gamecube games werent programmed to preserve battery life.
screw all u psp'ers... gamecube has better graphics and its portable would have too.
i'd definately get this... huge library, no shity overpriced memory sticks... awsome =)
now if only Nintendo would make it... hmmm
Now what if the controller(s) were detachable? Wouldn't that be interesting? Maybe the Revolution is completely different to what everyone is expecting and is actually a portable console?
Nintendo, if you holding this card, go ahead and play it. The games would be over.
BTW, what if this were the successor to GBA--which is, after all, the real competitor and OWNER--of the PSP?
there is no way nintendo wouldn't do this.
can you imagen all the buisnes they would
loose to sony or microsft if tey didn't?
by the way, if that is a memory card slot,
then by compareson, I'd say the disk in it is a DVD or CD,

This thread finally proves how dumb Nintendo fanboys really are. Thanks for the laugh guys.
Nice concept, as long as that headphone jack is a little larger so my eighth inch plug headphones actually fit. Unless that isn't a GC sized disc drive.
Your hiding it!
I know you are!
GIVE IT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The controls are obviously taken from another image. The perspective was changed to match the angle of the surface. Bad fake.
Am I the only one who keeps thinking of the Sega Nomad?
Cool design. Not quite as sexy as PSP, but a step up from typical Nintendo design's which is why you can tell it's a fake mock-up from someone outside of Nintendo.
Although it kind of has the PSP color scheme, it's look's to be from the Panasonic school of design more so then the usual Nintendo-Fisher Price school of design...with the exception of the Gamecube controller of course.

Remember the SD card adapter that was for gamecube awhile back? That memory card slot would probably be an SD slot. So if you use that, the disc is actually the same size as the Gamecube disc and is not some massive CD or DVD. That wouldn't be a very portable system would it?
I thought of Nomad aswell, and come on N'Fanboys... why didnt the GC sell well to the adult audience? because it didnt have ENOUGH good games! (not saying it doesnt have any... RE4 has already been said to be a possible game of the year), But would you really drop 300-400bucks on this that doesnt have as good a battery as even the psp? For those of you saying how tech is advancing and battery wont be an issue... its true to a point...
Tech has been advancing and miniturizing while battery technology progress has been stagnent for a few years now... And with a screen as huge as pictured (probally a good 5in or more in 4:3 not 16:9 like psp, which means probally double the pixels), AND it has an even bigger optical drive (as by the size of supposed memory stick), this thing is huge! I see it as a mayb a car accessory, something to run WHEN YOU HAVE THE POWER, otherwise... the battery wouldnt last 3-4hours... TOPS.
And again... I'd still rather play portable versions of Grand Theft Auto and FPS games rather than Zelda and RE4, they are the sort of games that you want to sit down and actually enjoy.... not something that can keep your intrest as you kill time for a few minutes.
Just my 2cents... To each their own... for those people who have 300-400bucks to drop on their kid/themselves for a PGC
PS. DID ANY OF YOU BOTHER TO CLICK THE LINK?!
Its on an unreal Modders' site! Come on...
well definitely fake b/c there the game is hanging out of the drive but yet the screen is still on with the game. Also there is no shoulder buttons (if you look carefully). What happened to the z trigger I wonder. The Analogs seem to be sunken in so it actually wouldnt stab the screen. As for the game being loaded upside down, well I doubt the laser would be under the controller. And yes Ben Heck should make a portable GCN. That would be SO awsome.
not to mention if that was an sd slot. Just think of the multimedia you could run on it. PSP eat your heart out. SD is not only cheaper but they come in bigger sizes than memory stick.
I think that is the Revolution. I mean, not the photos shown here actually, but the concept. They said Revolution is revolutionary and it supports wi-fi...what is better than a new console compatible with the previous (Nintendo confirmed also this), portable, connectable with a home-base having wireless joypads and tv/monitor connections?
Think about this...if you like Grand Turismo for Sony products you actually have to buy 2 games, one for PSP and one for PSX, and that is a nonsense.
DS is taking the throne of GBA being compatible with it and having sense because of the touch screen, while Revolution is competing with the rest of the market...PSP, PSX and XBOX360.
LEt me say this at the end...I am 32 and I don't have much time staying at home palying games while I have plenty of time when I am around...a portable Revolution? Such an idea would be....revolutionary.
oh and screw the ipod this would be such a better use of money.
I'll take 10!!!! And as for the DVD, I think the mockup is using a GC disk in there, not a CD/DVD sized disc.
Nintendo is so last decade.
Somebody asked - this is the GameCube motherboard: http://www.segatech.com/gamecube/overview/gamecube_motherboard.jpg
I personally took a picture of this motherboard next to an actual GameCube when Nintendo first unveiled it, but the site it was posted on is now out of business. Suffice it to say that it is pretty damn small.
This might be a better view - you can see its size in relation to a toothbrush :) http://www.n-sider.com/media/disassembly14_lg.jpg
And keep in mind technology has advanced in these few years - I'm sure this could be made even smaller today.
For comparison, this is the Xbox motherboard: http://www.xboxhackz.com/images/xbox_17.jpg
I'll take 10!!!! And as for the DVD, I think the mockup is using a GC disk in there, not a CD/DVD sized disc.
am i the only one that noticed that the date on the cover is the first day of E3?
;)
Kevin... PSP eat your heart out?? Because of a fictional mockup of something that looks unrealistic at best and completely ridiculous at worst? Wow, thats Nintendo fanboyism at its peak. Get a grip people.
in case sony fans are wondering, this thread is groing fast.
PS. the DS is a brand new kind of system, and the PSP is basicly a sony verson of this.
only not as good ;-)
Unrealistic at best and compleely rediculus at worst? You would have said the same thing about the psp a year ago. I wouldn't be suprised if this was an active idea that nintendo was playing with. I must admit while the photo is completely fake and done horribly the concept is a good one. Nintendo could do a lot of damage with somthing like this if it is possible to build.
just noticed this;
the comand icons on the top right corner of the screen are not that of "wind waker"
Hmmmm... who would mock that up?
While the pics are obviously fake, this is very much possible... Think about it: the PSP is BASICALLY a PS2 crammed into a tight space. It's not really that crazy to think a Gamecube could do similar things, especially if you take into consideration that the screen is separate from the rest of the hardware, creating even more space. The games are already only slightly larger that the crappy UMD's, and one more thing that you can't forget: Nintendo is no slouch when it comes to a portable gaming rig... you know they could pull it off and probably do so better than Sony could ever hope to do. Don't get me wrong, the PSP is quite an achievment, BUT, if Nintendo were to come out with this, they would wipe the floor with Sony in the handheld market: better graphics, TWO analog sticks, a great library of games (most people wouldn't have to try to afford a game or two at launch because they already have a few sitting at home) and a sweet clam-shell design which, lets be honest here, makes SO much more sense than having a constantly exposed screen...
Another thing to take into consideration here: Mr Consumer walks into the local gameshop to buy a game. He has an Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 as well as this "Gamecube Advanced" and he wants to buy a game that is, like many games nowadays, is on all three major platforms. Which one do you think he will buy? One that will ONLY work on the Xbox or PS2? Or one that he can play at home, AND take out on the road with him? This would be one hell of a solid business move on Nintendo's part, which, lets face it: Nintendo really needs to pull something out of their behinds right now... This would be that certain something.
Obvoiusly though, these are all IF's, which means no one should be talking down on the PSP over this when it's only a figment of someone's imagination at this point. For now, the PSP is still rockin' hard, but Nintendo could easily win me over again with something like this...
This battery life would be even worse than the PSP, especially cause gamecube games aren't made to conserve power. If Sony couldn't magically give the PSP super battery life, Nintendo wont be able either with its "Evolution".
And this mock up isn't either that good. It looks extremely uncomfortable, mainly because its really thick, and the D pad would be even harder to use, it is so far from the edge.
Why is it when sony makes a powerful handheld, nintendo fans dismiss it as bulky, having a low battery life, being gimmicky and expensive. This looks bigger, would take more power, most probably have the gimmicks, and would even be more expensive (unless Ninendo would be prepared to not make profit from the handheld sales).
Sure it looks cool, but i still think the DS is much better, and where is all the "graphics isn't everything" arguments?
I agree with the post - the Windwaker icons are different + look closely
It may not be real but I reckon it is an idea or something to be based on
The screen is further back than it looks - the analog stick is lower down - the A button looks different to the Gamecube one - there are small ridges near the front of the console to keep the screen from touching the controls (like the SP) - reflections look good -
I just don't know........
correction
"'graphics aren't everything'"
Nintendo COULD be pursuing something along the lines of a portable gamecube... I guess thats true, but it would absolutely not look like this. And guess what guys, that would not be revolutionary, it would be very similar to the PSP. I know, if it played GC games it would be the first of its kind, but it would basically be the same idea, just done differently (and better if it actually could play GC games).
Can you actually imagine it (considering its supposed to be portable) being done very well though, considering the fact that it would have to handle a disk that size? Don't you think the Sony people would have thought of the idea and wanted you to be able to play your PS2 games on the PSP rather than having to use a new format? It seems very unrealistic to me to make it happen, and if they did, it would be only a quasi-portable system, nothing like the PSP or DS. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
to # 72:
"word."
About the screen sucking up batteries, if Nintendo were to implement an OLED screen the battery life would be increased significantly.
Hehe, that would be a fun device. and even though minituizing the pars is possible, the expence and power consumption would make the system WAY to much money.
It would be sweet, but alas, I fear it will never be.
mebbe Ben Heckman would do some work on a portable Gc, but it wouldn't be this nice, or complex.
This is an idea that I thought should have happened a long time ago. I own a PSP but would buy one of these at launch.
Playing games like Zelda, Madden, Soul Calibur 2 etc. with Gamecube graphics would be awesome.
If this doesn't comeout, I may just ask that guy who made the portable PS2 to build me one and then send him a bunch of cash.
Whether or not it's real is questionable. I can't see how anyone couldn't see this as cool though.
The benefit of having a good job is that you can afford more than one system and thus can drop all the fanboy crap.
....All I can say is that is the most sexiest thing I have seen since... Since the original GC!
I don't think they should play THIS card just yet, I think they should wait a while. And can you really imagine a real working GC actually WORKING that small? I don't think so.
But yeah, Sexy.
But isn't the PSP just Sony's lower priced rip off of a Tapwave Zodiac. I mean name one thing the PSP can do that the Zodiac couldn't.
off topic... if anybody wants to see a REAL view of the Nintendo Revolution, play more Nintendo games... Nintendo has always hidden pics of thier future consols in thier games... in Donkey Kong Country 3 for SNES, if you look in kranky kongs shack, there is a N64 in the background, in Mario party 3 for N64 there's a Game Cube in the background of one of the huts, also in Mario party 6 (for some odd reason)
Anybody notice the lack of R and L buttons?
Also, would it be played like a sp? The buttons look too far from the side to be like that. Would it have to be played like an arcade-type thing?
I personally would love it.
If That thing comes out With a 30gig HD, Its over for PSP and iPod.
For those of you who havn't realised the image on the screen is of wind waker in its development stage, i have some images in magazines with the same icon setup in the top corner. The picture is obvioulsy a fake, but its the idea that could do so well.
Those thinking that it will need a car charger and stuff, why would nintendo do something that has already been made, there are several screens for gamecube with car adaptors so you can have a real gamecube in your car.
on the subject of this concept, definitely a PSP killer, altouhgh the DS might do that on its own, esspecially when the play yan SD player cancels out 1 of sonys main features of the PSP, multimedia. graphics is the only thing it has left, but i choose gameplay over graphics any day
This is clearly fake, but the idea is great. I hate people who slate "N'Fanboys" as they call them. To be honest the best games I've played have been nintendo ones, and all the PS2 offered for me was MGS and FF other than that I'm not interested... it's all car racing and sports. The Xbox lacks any good RPGs too. I think the DS is much more impressive than the PSP, music playback is gimmicky and why have music when you can concentrate on making ass kicking games? Like SSBM, Metroid Prime and, dare I say it, Animal Crossing. Nintendo clearly wipe the floor with other consoles in the innovation department, I'd buy this on the release date for sure, just like my Nintendo DS, which I'm impressed with. Also did anyone else notice the PSP having a slow frame rate or was that just me? *prepares for flaming*
there is no way nintendo wouldn't do this.
----
well, talk about cannibalizing business.. lol..
the controller on this thing sucks big time, it would be cool if you could just plug it into your TV to play as a console and carry it around w you to play portable.. the only thing is the controls suck, and you're not gonna play 'home games' while touching the console unit... you'd have to buy separate controllers so you could sit on the couch.
ah, so that's why nin. hasn't released this thing.. you always gotta be one generation back w your portable so as to not cannibalize sales of your star console.
IT IS A FAKE, HOW COULD YOU BE PLAYING IT WITH THE GAME OUT?????? AND THAT THING ISNT EVEN A GC DISC, THE HOLE AND THE NON RECORDABLE AREA IS TOO BIG FOR A GC DISC.... ANYWAYS THIS MAKES U HOPE NINTENDO MAKES SOMETHING LIKE THIS

Well the PS2 has larger media. IT would be near impossible for a PS2 disc to carry over into a handheld. The GC discs are larger, but not prohibitively so.
Obviously its a fake, however....
STOP SAYING ITS A FAKE BECAUSE IT SHOWS A GAME BEING PLAYED WHILE THE DISC IS OUT.
You kids ever hear of photoshop? Stop assuming they have a photographer waiting for the exact right moment to take a picture of any commercial art they may be releasing.
Thank god it's a fake too, i'd kill myself if i had to use that as a controller.
Seriously, who would look at that and think it's real? It would take an act of GOD to put that much stuff into GB-SP shell!
But man, if only something like that COULD be made. Wowwy! I think it's technically impossible though. Just way too much in Way too small of a case. I think the actual "Gameboy Extreme" will be at least as large as the PSP. Maybe even bigger. (gasp)
I love my PSP, but it's a brick! Can't put it in my pocket without my pants sagging. Maybe they should sell PSP suspenders!
But if the "GB-E" actually does play GameCube games directly, I'm afraid I'd *HAVE* to buy one. I have stacks of Gamecube games here. It would be awesome to take them on the road, even if I have to pack around yet another Brick of a game system.
this just in, nintendo blows
wasting your time photoshopping a gamecube controller is obviously more entertaining than anything nintendo can dish out
Hey Andrew Dunn, you must not have much exciting going on either if you can go to the effort of wasting time on a Nintendo thread.
I mean, you'd think Nintendo killed your dog or something.

Rubaiyat.... moron he is using sarcasm to show how you fanboys post all over this topic, more than any other nintendo - related topic, yet this is fake... and most likely wont happen unless god decides to give us measly humans portable ever lasting fusion power cores in the next year; guess what,,, he wont
OK, recap. Because everyone is saying the same thing.
1) The buttons will poke thru the screen
Wrong, the screen is recessed
2) The thing is playing with the disk out
It is a Computer rendering, it can do whatever it wants.
3) The image is from WW development
Yeah, so it is a place holder.
4) The Disk is no a standard GC disk
Again, it is a computer render, whoever made it probably wasn't concerned about the disk
5) The buttons on the back make no sense.
They do if it is an MP3 player
6) The GC couldn't possibly fit in a portable.
Sure, not with it's OLD motherboard. The thing could definately be trimmed down. The biggest problem I see is the fan.
7) The controls look uncomfortable.
Looks are decieving. Unless you pick it up, you really have no idea. Take out a scrap piece of wood, bandsaw it down, and sharpie the controls... not that bad if the buttons are raised.
8) No L/R/Z buttons... Do YOU see a back view? I don't... I see a 3/4 open and a 3/4 closed... There could be anything on the back
More to be added as my annoyance dictates...
The point is, it is possible. But I'm not sold.
