Apple planning to sue for iPod mini knockoff: Micromaxx and… a grocery chain?

Micromaxx

Word on the street in the German press is that Apple is preparing to unleash the hounds (legal, that is) on the manufacturers of that iPod mini knockoff, the Micromaxx MM42452. We sort of expected this would happen sooner or later, but apparently Apple is also considering suing the grocery chain that's carrying the device, which has been on sale again since May 30 for 179€. They say the less-than-stellar quality of the MM42452 could potentially damage the iPod line. We're content to leave the legalese to the lawyers on this one, but what really interests us about this story is that we can't yet buy MP3 players in grocery stores here in the States (no, Wal-Mart does not count as a "grocery store"). Mmmm, ice cream… fish sticks… pardon, where's the DAP aisle?
