Dude steals 12,000 iPods in Los Angeles
Single-handedly putting to shame every iPod mugger on the planet, last Wednesday some dude in Los Angeles managed to
drive away with more than $2.6 million worth of iPods after he infilitrated a freight forwarding business and "took
over delivery" of over 12,000 iPods. We thought that guy who was selling 12,000 iPods on eBay seeemed a little
suspicious…

Is that Mr. T?
Malfoy Roark @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Clearly someone told him to "Go big or go home" and he did both. :) Whoever steals a bigger stash of ipods I'm buying a drink.
yuppicide @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Let me tell you first hand. Don't ever list a large quantity of something one eBay! They will suspend your account.
I joined a wholesale dropship website, listed 49 digital cameras for sale and got suspended and am now fighting to get my account back.
Man @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
And if he's married to a woman who illegally downloads, they'll make a perfect couple. He's still missing I wonder how many ipods does it take to silence your neighbors?
Malfoy Roark @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Well that's ok I guess. I tend to move Powerbooks in blocks of 50. Was considering breaking them up, but that's ok, bulk is still good. :)
sonofabinch @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
I saw a dude selling a ton of iPods on the street corner in the Valley for $20 a pop! I didn't get any because I thought they were fake, like his fake Oakleys.

A BLACK GUY.. SHEEESH.. what a stereotype...
I bet when the cops busted his door down and he was swimming in a hot tub of iPods, his first words were: "It's cuz I'm black, right?"
sunz @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM

Maybe this is a new inventory reduction plan by Apple:

It would be funny if they happened to be defective models on their way to repair... regardless of the actual events... it would be funny for him to turn EACH and EVERY one on, and get dreaded hard drive errors.
;)
Matt @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Wow! That's like 480 terabytes of iPod.
I wonder if that guy works for freeipods.com. Special promotion this week: hit the monkey, get 4 iPods FREE!
bonfas @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM

Matt Baron @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
I love this headline...
Suntiger @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
From the article:
"The value of the stolen MP3s is..."
That sounds like it was written by someone who would be likely to think Frito Lay makes electronics...
Chris @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Wow I have to say I love that SHIRT. If he does not get arrested fot stealing the i-Pods, maybe the cops can bust him for that shirt.
lupinstel @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Maybe he just subscribed to Napster and needed a lot of space to store his legally purchased downloads.
Tom @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
You know what? That shirt is the reason he's going to jail. Someone will make him based on that shirt alone.
js @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM

Do I smell an IPOD CLUSTER?...how 'bout an IPOD SAN? or something more practical like your own wall of speakers, erm 24,000 IPOD earbuds?
SHOTT3R @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
I hate to be the one to try and bring sense to an Engadget discussion, but...
For all you people jumping on the Black Guy/Ugly Shirt bandwagon, you DO realise that the pic is a screengrab from some Grand Theft Auto-like videogame, right? I was looking really hard at the posts to see if maybe there was some sarcasm or some sort of proof of non-asshattery, but alas...
Signal to noise ratio here is getting really low lately. God forbid Engadget turns into Slashdot.
Aaron @ Dec 19th 2005 12:16AM
Yea, and plus, it doesnt look like Mr.T you fools, just cause thats the only black person you may know. It looks more like ICE T
