CIRCA touch-screen movie player for dementia patients

CIRCA

Researches at the University of St Andrews School of Psychology in Scotland have developed a touch-screen movie player designed to help paitents suffering from dementia. The player gives patients a choice of three categories including music, movies and photos, which are supposed to trigger the person's memory and prompt a discussion. The CIRCA system was tested on 40 patients during development and the research team says it could be on the market in 2 or 3 years. They're also now looking at whether it could also be used for people with learning disabilities or head injuries.
