Empire Series media PC reviewed
We're seeing a lot more work coming from boutique media PC builders, now that there's a wide variety of cases and components available. And some of these shops are actually handing out review units, which means we get to find out whether they're any good without having to hand over three grand. Thomas Hawk took a look at the Empire Series, from Illinois-based Expansion Solutions, and found it to be the best PC-based audio system he's ever used — little wonder, given its 1000 Watt amp, 5.1 playback and 110 db signal to noise ratio. Other specs of the tested unit include a P4 at 3 GHz, 1GB RAM, a 200GB drive and a sleek Cavalier Cooler Master case. Of course, if you want one, you will have to come up with the three grand.
