Hitachi releases first terabyte HDD/DVD recorder

hitachi

Any form of recording high definition is great. Any form without a monthly fee is even better. Hitachi is releasing in Japan a new set of DVD recorders that feature 160 GB, 250 GB, and 500 GB hard drives. The crown jewel of Hitachi though would have to be the recorder that has two 500 GB hard drives making it the first consumer level DVD recorder with a terabyte of storage.

We bet you think that a recorder with a terabyte of storage simply cannot get better, but my friend, you are wrong. These recorders have two ATSC tuners; they can record two high definition programs at one time! Simply amazing. The terabyte recorder costs more than a lot of HDTVs, but even still, we cannot think of many better ways to spend $2,100.

UPDATE: We were able to locate some pictures of the units via Akihabara News.
