The Simmons Jewelry Co. $35k PSP case
We might be a little more down with a $35,000 jewel-encrusted PSP, but we're just gonna have to settle for the
$35,000 jewel-encrusted PSP case that Russel and Kimora Lee Simmons are finally
breaking out in conjunction with M. Fabrikant & Sons
jewelers. Apparently the Baby Phat version we
saw last year actually has a full pound of gold,
alligator skin, and yellow and black diamonds, and god only knows what we can expect from the straight Simmons Jewelry
Co. version. We're not entirely sure what he means by saying "Much of the profits will go back to Africa," but Russ,
weekend jaunts to Morocco don't count, ok?
[Thanks, Taz]

Looks like something you'd buy from a machine in front of the supermarket.

That thing looks like it would be way too thick to be comfortable while actually playing.

How horrible..
And "Much of the profits will go back to Africa"?? Does that sound a little "bigotty" to me.. Oh well.. Gotta figure more of the black community would buy this anyway, well.. the "SuPaStArZz" atleast.. rappers, nba players, etc..
*awaiting hateful replies* I'm not racist, just stating the facts which to me seem obvious..

Russel Simons and his ilk continue to be the biggest hypocrites when it comes to discussing the exploiting of Africa's mineral wealth. If you want to see what Russel Simmons and many others do to help Africa look at Sierra Leone. Thousands upon thousands of innocent people are persecuted, forced to work in deadly mines and killed by rebels/militants to feed the consumer demand for "precious" diamonds. The vast majority of people who purchase diamonds couldn't care less where a diamond came from, as long it has the important "C" characteristics. Maybe the diamond trade should start including the names of anyone killed during the mining process on the Gem ID card.

(note I own and enjoy [some times limitedly] a psp)
So let me get this straight, cover an already overpriced, too shiny easily scratched handheld with an overpriced WAY too shiny VERY easily scratched case (especially if it is high purity). Not to mention that the pound of gold would give you handcramps. RETARDED

Wait a minute! I am an idiot! I thought I would let you Engadget readers know.

God forbid it gets stolen in the subway. You'll lose $35,300 in one snatch!
Vance @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
so... you pay 35K to make your PSP ugly? No way. Looks are the only thing the PSP has going for it!
Z @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
$35,000 ???
I don't care if you have enough money to waste on this type of junk or not - if you choose to say goodbye to this much money for a PSP case, you're not only an idiot, but a very poor steward of your money.
Let's see, what do I do? Buy a gaudy looking PSP case, or put a person in need through college for four years?
This thing won't have any resale value because the current model PSP won't be around forever, and people with money have to have the latest and greatest, so they're not going to be interested in this case because it likely won't fit the new model - whenever that happens to arrive in the future - and who else has $35,000 to blow on a case?

Vance your right in saying the PSP only has looks going for it, hell thats what drew everyone to the handheld in the first place. That case is hideous btw anyone whos buys that is a Grade A moron.
Ashley @ Dec 28th 2005 1:02AM
Wow my daughter would love one of those but I think she would want a car instead of a Gold PSP case but I guess if I was a millionair I would consider buying one!
