Sony's Playstation phenom is heading into its tenth years as a player and powerhouse in the video gaming world. First announced in May of 1994, and launched in December of 1994 (in Japan), the Playstation - now dubbed PSOne as you know - still has a place on many gamers shelves.
The Happy Birthday celebration arrived at somewhat of a midpoint between announcement and release date this year, as
the 1UP folks have posted a sex, lies and video games type
retrospective of the PSone. They take us back to the days of the Sega Genesis to Saturn transition, the Atari
Jaguar, 3DO and more (as a
MAC Mac user, I had to shake my head at the site sight of
the Pippin) for a great story of the events surrounding the birth of the Playstation. A great read.
