Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden creator favors CRT's over LCD HDTV's for gaming

In an interview with the Japanese Xbox gaming, Famitsu, the...interesting leader of Team Ninja, Tomonobu Itagaki, shared his thoughts on Microsoft's next-gen system, and also on the TV's he thinks gamers should play with. Team Ninja is responsible for the Dead or Alive series of games, as well as Ninja Gaiden on Xbox, and the recently released Ninja Gaiden Black. Itagaki is known for his ego as much as the quality of his games, and is always a fun interview to read.

He starts off commenting on how he wants gamers to play his games in a high definition environment and is glad Microsoft is including high definition cables (although not everyone is happy with their choice) with the console. He definitely prefers CRT TV's to LCD, not because of refresh rate, but because Team Ninja has high end LCD TV's in their office and he is unimpressed with their color accuracy. (He doesn't mention RPTV's or PDP technology, maybe he should check out our buying guide?)

He understands how important sound is to the high definition environment, and mentions DOA4 is mixed in 5.1 in some parts. Finally, he explains that he does not believe in playing games with ugly black borders, and jokes that DOA4 is "fully SD compliant" for gamers with 4x3 TV's.
