Gateway intros 21-inch HD monitor with HDCP
In what's sure to be a trend, Gateway is offering a new 21-inch LCD flat-panel display at an extremely reasonable price. The new FPD2185W is capable of resolutions of 1680 x 1050, so while it comes close to 1080i, it should handle 720p with no problem. Additionally, the new display isn't just for the PC as Gateway has included composite and DVI inputs: just add an HDTV source and you're set.
What's that? Are you asking about encrypted high-def content? Good question, but Gateway has a good answer since they've included an HDCP encryption chip, which allows this set to work well with Microsoft Windows Vista (aka: codename Longhorn). All of this HDTV-goodness will only set you back $599. Not too shabby for a 21-inch widescreen HD-ready display.
