The 5G iPod?
Looks an awful lot like a production sample if you ask us, and it jibes perfectly with the ads we just saw go up.
From what we understand this device will support video, but is not the
video iPod we've been speculating and hearing
way, way too much about. We're in for something interesting today.
[Thanks, Jose and everyone who sent this in]

If by interesting, you mean "bigger" then yes, it will be a very interesting day.

phi @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM

Saurabh Agarwal @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM

#7 = idiot.
David @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
they meant 5G as in 5th generation, not hardrive size
Scoobydoo @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Uh Saurabh.... 5G means fifth generation, not 5Gb...
Stu L Tissimus @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Meh. Bigger screen and video support. Frankly, it isn't too exciting... Also, can anybody read what it says? I'm pretty sure it's Chinese, not Japanese or Korean. (Get your Engadget Chinese guys on the case!)
Well, here's hoping it's a hoax. I still want a new Apple Newton ;_;
Samuel McConnell @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
#8: Not 5GB, 5G, as in 5th Generation.
Dean Peltier @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
And people brought a Nano because?
Whats funny is that I've just come back from the states and people who had the Nano looked in awe at my Sony W800i phone. Don't get me wrong I like the Nano and this new Ipod is probably gonna kick ass, but Apple keep moving at such a crazy pace and pissing people off with stuttered releases. I bet that an ITablet comes out a couple of weeks after their new ultra thin touchscreen Intel Powerbooks comes out (I made that up BTW - I'm guessing) that is better and does alot more. I'm all for progress but Apple need to think of the consumer more and release new revisions at the same time.
Tyler @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Isn't that just an old ipod? the screen is NOT the aspect ratio of the one in the new posters...
yetieater @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
I'm totally psyched, guys.
It's Chinese buddy.
Saurabh Agarwal @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
lol...shit...i was surfing so many sites..i didnt notice it was just G and not GB....haha.....
but i dont see apple putting a bigger, albeit thinner, ipod....unless its something reallllly cool......and it is widescreen-ish....video??

Presumably it will play movies but pause for 1 second between each and every scene. :) And most people will say it's not a problem and a fantastic piece of marketing, er, engineering...
Ue @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
YES! IT PLAYS VIDEO. I read Chinese too.

Jayson Elliot @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Ok, stupid question, but what is the difference between an iPod that supports video and a "video iPod?"
3nglish @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
What's to say this isn't photoshopped?
Yong @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
that's a dumb design i should say for video playing back...

(if its real) it looks as if the screen is wider and the wheel is the same size, so it gives the impression of the screen being even bigger than it is
shaun @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
just been confirmed on the home page of this site (a video ipod not that design)
the other steve jobs @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
