PiTech's I-10: 3 megapixel Palmphone
Dear Treo, why must
competitors constantly step up to dethrone you? Coming at you from the left is
Nokia's 9500 Communicator, on your right is the
PPC-6700, and just over the horizon are the
Motorola Q, the
E61 "Nokiaberry," and now an impressive new entrant
from PiTech, the Garnet-powered I-10. Up to this point, the only time we'd heard of PiTech (Portable Innovation
Technology Limited) was through their Qool QDA-700-esque
reference design (pictured), but the I-10 promises to be
a real product that may bring some genuine innovations, not the least of which is the built-in three megapixel camera.
The cam also features auto focus and anti-shake compensation, and can capture video in MPEG-4, with playback possible
through a 2.2-inch screen. No more details are available at this point, and until we hear some processor and memory
specs, and especially some words like "WiFi," "Bluetooth," and "EVDO," we're gonna wait to pass judgment on this
one.
[Thanks, Yonatron]

A little too late, Palm OS is dead. Windows Mobile is going to be on the new Treo.
they are making multiple versions of the treo... windows mobile, symbian, and palm. the palm os is far from dead.
where is the Moto MPX 2?? i need two things...a keyboard, and a protected screen.
i wish they would quit putting cameras in phones :
it would make the camera less bulky, plus i dont need a phone on my camera.
Dang, that looks like the phone that the Samsung i550 should have been. I think there will be some buyers for this. Finally, another clamshell Palm phone!
Reminds me of this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CEC-2800-Brand-New-COLOUR-CAMERA-SMARTPHONE-FreeP-P_W0QQitemZ6444432993QQcategoryZ3312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
There is no Symbian Treo, nor will there be any time in the near future. There's reports about a new Palm OS Treo, but it's unconfirmed and not expected to be released until the middle of next year.
FINALLY! A 3MP Camera phone! However when do you think it's going to make it stateside?
Sorry Engadget, but EVDO is useless - and I live in the States. Let's just swap "EVDO" for "UMTS", mmmkay?
No, VERIZON'S iteration of EV-DO is useless. V-Cast sucks. But how is EV-DO wireless broadband useless? Just wait until Sprint puts all of their new spectrum to use - EV-DO will be fantastic, and much faster than UMTS/HSDPA.
Can anyone say Motorola A768i?

Looks like a nice device. I've been looking for a phone that replaces the keyboard with a screen entirely - makes a lot of sense to me.
