Gateway S-7200 tablet PC reviewed

gateway s-7200

Gateway's S-7200 may not be the lightest or most full-featured tablet PC out there, but at just $1,099 (after mail-in rebates, of course), it's one of the cheapest. So, what do you get for just over a grand? Marc Orchant of the Tablet PC Weblog just picked one up, and has the full rundown of his first days with the tablet, which includes a 1.4GHz Pentium M, 512MB RAM, 40GB drive and a 14-inch, 1280x769 touchscreen display. Despite the low price, he found it to be a solid performer, with a "gorgeous" display, highly usable full-sized keyboard, good battery life, decent WiFi reception, and just enough bundled software to be usable (the basic config doesn't include MS Office, and Marc likes the fact that no "crapware" was bundled with the Gateway). All-in-all, it sounds like a pretty tempting package, if you're sold on the idea of a tablet PC and want something both functional and affordable.
