iRiver U10 media player reviewed

iRiver U10 small

We had a chance to play with the iRiver U10 a little while ago, and were surprised to find that we actually liked the PMP, despite its 2.2-inch display and relatively steep price of $199 for a 512MB version and $249 for the 1GB model. Now Everything USB has given it a full workout, and they're practically foaming at the mouth with praise for the U10's features, opining that "words cannot express how nifty the iRiver U10 is." The reviewer was impressed with the U10's range of functions, which include audio and video playback, photo viewing and games, and also liked the UI and controls. However, the review also dinged the U10 for its price, limited video capabilities (just 15fps) and, of course, that price. We still agree; guess we'll have to hold out and pick one up on the cheap on eBay after it's discontinued or replaced with a higher-capacity model (an unlikely scenario, given that Apple is going to snag all of the flash chips in the world for use in the nano).
