iRiver U10 media player reviewed
We had a chance to play with the iRiver U10
a little while ago, and were surprised to find that we actually liked the PMP, despite its 2.2-inch display and
relatively steep price of $199 for a 512MB version and $249 for the 1GB model. Now Everything USB has given it a full
workout, and they're practically foaming at the mouth with praise for the U10's features, opining that "words cannot
express how nifty the iRiver U10 is." The reviewer was impressed with the U10's range of functions, which include audio
and video playback, photo viewing and games, and also liked the UI and controls. However, the review also dinged the
U10 for its price, limited video capabilities (just 15fps) and, of course, that price. We still agree; guess we'll have
to hold out and pick one up on the cheap on eBay after it's discontinued or replaced with a higher-capacity model (an
unlikely scenario, given that Apple is going to snag all of
the flash chips in the world for use in the nano).

The thing is big enough that they could concievably cram a microdrive in there. If Apple is cornering the market on flash memory, I think iRiver would be smart to corner the market on microdrives.
One of these with a 4 or 6 gig microdrive for $249 would be an appealing alternative to the nano.
Hey, There is a site that reviewed this player aswell.
The review is alright although they see like iRIver fanboys. All their reviews are about iRivers.
Meh,.......Heres the link: http://diabolikal.org/home/staticpages/index.php?page=u10review

yeah, i've been to diabolikal once or twice. that review is sorta bias ...but nice pictures (all the way on the bottom..hard to find), and good information
iriver fanboys maybe, but check out their reader's poll, you can't argue with results like that. the (13) people love them.
I got in contact with the owner (sanitarium) through the IRC there and he told me that the reason he only has iRiver reviews is because he just started the website a month ago and thats all he has to review at the moment.
I Joined and am going to give him some of my reviews.
Put in an SD card slot, and I'll buy one now...
Everything Apple Makes Rocks :D lol
15 fps is really really weak.
Yeah... 15fps is a little weak, but on a screen that small, it might be tough to tell the difference. I'd rather have a "smooth", crisp 15fps than a blurry 30fps because the LCD doesn't refresh fast enough.
i wonder how is the sound quality with this thing cos i really hate the sound quality of my 4g ipod
Someone teach that iriver guy how to use a camera.
Jervis: If its anything like the iriver i have then the sound quality will be first class. Much better than what I have heard on iPods.
Uhh no thanks I will stick with my 20GB iRiver PMP-120
