Samsung's SGH-i300x ups the space to 4GB
Ok, look, we're gonna be straight
up on this one. We do like the fact that Samsung's not settling down on the i300 and releasing the thing as a one-off or something like that --
and we're certainly not complaining about getting an extra gig of storage space at 4GB over its previous 3GB. But you
know what we'd trade off before getting that extra bit of space? How about sooner getting Windows Mobile 5.0 on the
thing instead of sticking to 2003 SE? (Ok, granted we're assuming it's still 2003 SE, but they refuse to show
screencaps on their site or specify the version of Smartphone the device runs, which we believe would otherwise be a
big to-do for them if they'd gotten WinMo5 on the thing.) Because otherwise the SGH-i300x looks like your typical
lust-inducer: 1.3 megapixel camera, QVGA display, media playback software (MPEG4, h.264, WMV, MP3, AAC, WMA, etc.),
3.5mm jack, A2DP, MicroSD slot, and so on.

My name Elaine and fm Phillipines just finish my travelling in China, now stay in my friend's house in HK. I've brough 1 set of this i300X phone in a shop and I love it too much for the MEGA build in Hard-Disk memory, so I can enjoy my music world freely. Only the Camera little poor, but still OK for me. I love it.
As I travelling in China, I heard the News of our Phillipines's Samsung distributor - First Mobile Group 's Chairman Mr. K.H.Ng have been under arrest by the state government due to the Taxes problem. He told a lie to the Government and fooling them. And their OEM factory also "SEALED" by the Government already. But due to the Cases not yet passed to Central Government.Same as before it happened to Siemens, he paid a big money and have a chances to "Run Away" from China. Now their Groups in very "Touch" financial problem and they "Dump" all phone in market. Is that the reason for I've find only this i300X is very Costly than others Samsung models in HK. Thanks for the i300X of Samsung.
Best Rgds.,
Elaine
It has WM 5.0
>>It has WM 5.0
Really? How do you know? Samsung UK are refusing to commit apparently and all Windows Mobile-related websites haven't any better idea either. Samsung only go as far as to say it has Windows Mobile.
A lot of people have been having problems with WM5 being sluggish on their devices. Verizon's 730 used WM 2003 and the new 830 uses WM5 and it is reported that it is slooowwww!
MoDaCo are saying it has WM5.

Not sure what there source is though. Samsung don't specify which version it's running on their site. http://uk.samsungmobile.com/mobile_phone/sgh-i300x/feature.jsp
Makes Homer look svelte.
I already have the Samsung i300. Anyone know how to upgrade it to WM5?? Would it be possible to downgrade afterwards?
Whooo whoooo! All aboard the fun club! Now with more fun!
Holy crap, that thing is thick.
It is WMS 2003... I've got one, I got it last Wednesday.
Those pictures are the wrong aspect ratio - it's not much bigger (in any direction) than an Orange SPV C550.
I hope they're not bringing out a 4GB model this close to the launch of the 3GB one, that'd be crazy.
Can you say "brick"?
Reminds me of the old Motorola cell phones of about a dozen years ago.
When will people finally realize that Linux is so much better (and faster) than any of the MS (use your preferred 4-letter word here)?!
I am assuming that the cellphone appears thick because Engadget had to squeeze the image inwards to make it fit into their normal page format. By saving the image and stretching it out in, say, Microsoft Word you may get a better feel for its width. If I'm wrong and that's really how thick it is then I agree with number 10, totally.
GSM Arena says "The new i300x will have Windows Mobile 5.0 OS."
