So,
what would Steve Jobs do?
We asked last week, and we took your answers in the form of over three hundred and fifty photoshopped mockups. We had a
couple of Newtons, a ton of tablets, and a huge swarm of video iPods -- and a ton of miscellaneous stuff that both
amused and bemused us during the hours we spent judging. While it's always hard hard to pick winners in these things,
we thought first place took it with a bullet -- but one entry was so good, we had to give out a second place prize for
the laugh.
Thanks to everyone who entered, even if your entries aren't in the gallery (click on to check it
out), and remember to check back tomorrow to find out what Jobs actually did.

apple should hire some of these guys!
apeguero @ Feb 27th 2006 4:34PM
I like the iWrist and especially the iPhone. That iPhone looks like it could make one hell of a device. Too bad it's all make believe.
Liam @ Feb 27th 2006 4:35PM
Man, the "What the Hell?" categorie is hilarious!
Conrad Quilty-Harper @ Feb 27th 2006 4:37PM
I LOVED the iPod shuffle video when I saw it on the comments thread.
That's my favorite entry.
K @ Feb 27th 2006 4:40PM
I really like the iWrist. Props to all.

oh man, some of those ideas are really interesting. i really like the tablets and the phones
mertz @ Feb 27th 2006 4:44PM
oh good lord... how could that iPhone not win?
i'm not much of a cellphone guy (have one obviously, but don't drool over new products)... however, that phone i'd buy 3 of the day it came out. SOOOO COOL!
Nathan @ Feb 27th 2006 4:45PM
iPod Shuffle Video, ROFL...
dalton @ Feb 27th 2006 4:46PM
the winning entry is so slick, I would buy that in a second.
Rajesh @ Feb 27th 2006 4:48PM
#4 I agree with you. They really should!
My favourite picks...Nick C's iPhone & Gabriel gamXploiter.
Dave Zatz @ Feb 27th 2006 4:49PM
Damn - Engadget's got some really talented and clever readers! Very impressive stuff - thank you! :)
Dod @ Feb 27th 2006 4:50PM
These are awesome.
Mac & Cheese...yum!
Linkman2004 @ Feb 27th 2006 4:51PM
How come the gamXploiter which was just a rip off of my iGame get on there and not mine! This SUCKS!
Ron @ Feb 27th 2006 4:54PM
I thought first place was awesome as well but is it supposed to be touch screen? If not, how is the mouse cursor interfaced?
Still, first place has a very cool form-factor!
bird @ Feb 27th 2006 4:55PM
can someone please explain to me what the heck is so great about the iPod shuffle video? it obviously doesnt play video because it doesnt have a screen!
HckySo @ Feb 27th 2006 4:56PM
Awesome pictures! Those would be so cool to own.
diulei @ Feb 27th 2006 4:56PM
iPod Shuffle Video gave me a good laugh the first time, and Mac & Cheese did it for me this time. Good job guys.
yourmommasjuice @ Feb 27th 2006 4:57PM

thanks
Tyler @ Feb 27th 2006 4:57PM
Mac & Cheese. I'll take 2.
diulei @ Feb 27th 2006 4:57PM
#19: Haha.
scoyle17 @ Feb 27th 2006 5:04PM
i think i'm in love with the winner
khamel @ Feb 27th 2006 5:10PM
i gotta say, that iphone is tight. im partial to windows mobile but id switch for a phone that slick. the always mentioned problem is that a phone with a hard drive would be a disaster and solid state memory isnt up to the task of being a hardcore mp3 player. but nano-like memory and a phone shouldn't be that hard right?
El Burro @ Feb 27th 2006 5:10PM
Has no-one seen the problem with the winning entry, that it cant flip the screen around to be able to write on it... Hence, not much use as a tablet? Props for photoshoppage though.
Xtophe @ Feb 27th 2006 5:12PM
I'm french and i (try) to read this site allways, this news is the great, iPod Yocto !!!!
Very good.
Christophe
Eyewaje @ Feb 27th 2006 5:16PM
I love the winner, and the second place is hilarious!!!!
Although the iTablet was great. I think the next thing apple would do is to release phone/laptop/tablet/ ipod kind of thing, we have seen apple already working with a phone developer (motorola), Carrier (cingular) and if everything is true a version of itunes for wm5 is flying around europe, and this is just tasting the waters, the next san francisco announcement would be dope IMO.
Mike @ Feb 27th 2006 5:16PM
Wow, great job to all who submitted. If they really do release something like the 1st entry or any of the other tablets I'm in. I've never been fond of Apple's stuff (I'm anti-iPod) but I've been looking for a small clamshell device to browse the web around my house.
tracy @ Feb 27th 2006 5:18PM
icube shuffle, i like it, i really like it
think about it!
of course it needs ports so i dont know how that would work into the equation.
Dave @ Feb 27th 2006 5:20PM
Favorite was the "What the hell" and I'd pay money for the speaker-TV.
play free games @ Feb 27th 2006 5:26PM
Wow! There was some awesome stuff here, really creative. I like Jonas's MacBook the best, it should be very close to what I think Apple will introduce when they replace the iBook. Great job to all artists!
Scott @ Feb 27th 2006 5:30PM
Loved the iWedge
lakiolen @ Feb 27th 2006 5:41PM
iRobot???
C'mon that's totally unbelievable.
Apple would never support Plays For Sure
Adam @ Feb 27th 2006 5:41PM
Congrats to the winner, and everyone who got in the gallery. They were all really well done. I hope Engadget does another one of these soon. I really learned a lot about Photoshop while working on my entry.
yourmommasjuice @ Feb 27th 2006 5:44PM
Oh I get the ipod video shuffle...geez, im such a dumbass...
...crawls in hole...
Trent @ Feb 27th 2006 5:45PM
I think that I would actually consider buying an apple pocket pc. Jobs should take these ideas seriously.
Jabbar @ Feb 27th 2006 5:48PM
geez, all of these people are way too talented for us to be inundated with crappy advertising. companies should look to this kind of design to appeal to the public. hell id hire pretty much all of them to design for me if i owned a design company and had a bajillion dollars to throw around. much props to all.
Bob Ackerman @ Feb 27th 2006 5:48PM
Is the iWrist being modelled by a centaur? What's with the hairy torso?
Merlino Picar @ Feb 27th 2006 5:49PM
I thought, everything are real. I'm ready to order.
Eran @ Feb 27th 2006 5:55PM
Seriously Steve should not mess with success.
At this point, Apple should be careful and NOT introduce any cool device as proposed here. It is safer to introduce:
1. Color iPods (yum!) The people want their Nanos in pink and blue.
2. Downloadable mini games on iTunes, $2.99 each. The games library should support ALL of the iPod family. Keep the loyal family happy.
ezekielwhore @ Feb 27th 2006 5:58PM
LOL wow some of those are awesome. like the phone one. good job guys.
Wayne @ Feb 27th 2006 6:02PM
I should have entered my little mock up of how I'd change the Shuffle.
http://flickr.com/photos/mondochrome/93889011/
I didn't even think about it! Doh!
There was some great work submitted. :)
Brolley @ Feb 27th 2006 6:15PM
These things are all amazing. Apple should strongly consider coming to Engadget to get some ideas.
Joe @ Feb 27th 2006 6:17PM
Someone needs to explain to me why the ipod shuffle video got second place...
gameXploiter @ Feb 27th 2006 6:17PM
#17: W.T.F is wrong with you?!

1: Get Apple fans to speculate on what products Apple will come out with at whatever upcoming event
2: Design a similar device or hire one of the photoshopers of such a device
3: Advertise it through viral campaigns
4: PROFIT!!!!
JahDell @ Feb 27th 2006 6:30PM
Some of these were freakin amazing... I'm heading to the patent office right now! =)
J-walka @ Feb 27th 2006 6:35PM
It's obvious (well, to me at least) how the winner made his photoshop. He just took his iPod and shrinked an iBook's keyboard to fit on it. Then he took an iBooks screen rounded the edges, and added a screenshot of Mac OS X (pre-Tiger, because there is no Spotlight search icon in the top right corner) and bam! You got the MacBook tablet. Simple, yet elegant.
