BlackBerry 8703e for sale on Verizon's site
We told you it was coming, we told you how much for and when, and now the BlackBerry 8703e is on Verizon's site -- yours for $249 with a two year contract, or $399 for a one year contract. We're a little sick of writing about this thing, so please, go get it (or not), and let's all enjoy our Sundays, shall we?

Wow, these blackberries look very aesthetically pleasing.
The black and the shiny matt silver linings make a good contrast.
Too bad this thing cant run windows mobile 5.0, if im sold..

This phone will not yet sync to mac. Having just taken delivery of my 8703e for Verizon, it does not appear to be supported by either RIM, Verizon or Pocket Mac. None of them will take responsibility for the device not syncing to a mac! Stay away Mac users until this issue is resolved!

I have the 8703e and it DOES sync with MACS!! You have to use PocketMac for Blackberry 4.0! Download it (it's free) and have fun!
Mac users swarm to 8703e because it is a nice phone.

I am thinking of getting this device for use as a tethered modem with my Dell Inspiron E1405. I'm looking for advice from other people who have used this blackberry, especially relating to the connection quality. It would be even better to hear from some people that live in the NYC-metro area since I'm a NJ to NYC commuter.
Thanks.

Garrett - Although I do not *yet* have the the new 8703, I do have a tethered 7250 on the Verizon network and use the feature when I am on the road. Great for e*mail and attachments and browser activity. Peak downloads are above 700Kbps. I see the 1XEV icon most everywere I travel.

I was going to get the Treo 700p this weekend but I just saw that this phone is available. I have the Blackberry 7290 with t-moble right now but I want to switch to Verizon. Any thoughts to which phone I should get?

how big is this compared to the treo 700p
panurgy @ Nov 14th 2006 12:41PM
I'd say it's wider (feels better in your hand), shorter, thinner, and way lighter.
I LOVE my 8703e. Used to have a Palm Treo 650 (Cingular) and this phone is better. Had to switch because Cingular network didn't work (blew chunks) in my new home or office (Detroit, MI, in case anybody else is running into the same issues). Now I have a better signal, better sound, better speakerphone. No camera, but the camera on the 650 was garbage anyway. I do miss the touch screen...but the the email syncing is better on the 8703e, too...so I'm much happier. Now I need to learn how to use it as a modem and I'm all set...

How about selling it w/o a contract? Can you do that? I already have a 2-yr contract with Verizon.
