Imation's USB bracelet goes 1GB
You know those USB flash drive bracelets no one is wearing? Well, consider 'em bumped to a full 1GB in your choice of 8 colors to match you collection of ironic T-shirts. And if you feel like branding your enslaved wage donkeys, you can even order in bulk replete with your own corporate logo. On sale in Japan starting September 21st. Good times.

I think these could definitely take off. The 1GB space is definitely a help.
Esat @ Sep 21st 2006 10:23AM
Wouldn't mind one of these, although they might be a bit too bulky for the ninja lifestyle.
Tsu-chan @ Sep 29th 2006 10:37PM
Ha, Esat, get the black one :P
Personally, I'm liking the blue one. That or orange to match my school colors.
HughJass @ Sep 21st 2006 10:25AM
So if company X buys 200 of these, how might the employees keep them apart?
nak @ Sep 21st 2006 11:24AM
how would you keep 200 of any kind of the same product apart......write on the inside maybe
Al Tubinas @ Sep 21st 2006 10:38AM
Sorta reminds me of the USB Watches
Deadturtle @ Sep 21st 2006 10:49AM
My question is how strong is the clip... I wouldn't wear it as jewelry... I am far too oft sticking my hands into the guts of things to even wear a watch, but if it was sturdy enough to be attached to my pack....... well that would be useful. i guess I could always re-inforce with gaffers tape. I guess I am assuming that being bracelets they've shielded the darn things... but if the price is right I may just have to try it out!
Hernandito @ Sep 21st 2006 10:50AM
I can imagine forgeting to take it off when taking a shower...I hope they are water proof.
Bart @ Sep 22nd 2006 3:34PM
forget? its just there? anyway i put my sony usb stick through the wash and it worked fine... till i lost it... nice idea!
strider_mt2k @ Sep 21st 2006 10:55AM
This would be a great high-tech version of the various multi-colored wrist bands for special causes like breast cancer, autism, and the like.
You could show your support, and it would actually be useful to boot!
-or to boot from, depending on how you roll...
Nith @ Sep 21st 2006 11:05AM
That is exactly what I though when i saw them. They can even throw in usefull charity information on there like some vids or what their cause has done.
Alternatively I can see firms using this as a marketing tool or maybe you can get your favourite album on them (and the braclets have the band's logo and stuff)
Nicholas FitzRoy-Dale @ Sep 21st 2006 11:00AM
Good times indeed.
Warhorse @ Sep 21st 2006 11:02AM
Great idea. This sort of thing is trendy enough in high school and colleges, it should market easy.
PEZ @ Sep 21st 2006 11:05AM
You know those bracelets EVERYONE is wearing, so they feel special about donating a dollah to whatever charity they belong to?
Convergence of the bracelet and high tech. Yay.
Michael @ Sep 21st 2006 11:08AM
I always thought these were a good idea, but I don't think I'd ever buy one. Then again I'm in my late twenties now and like to dress a little more swanky.
Nith @ Sep 21st 2006 11:29AM
They need to be waterproof and under $10 (CA). Then I'd buy one.
Snesgirl @ Sep 21st 2006 11:31AM
Non too shabby, and a natural progression from the 'Lance Armstrong' type of bands. People seem to like wearing a piece of rubber around their wrist.
still could do with beeing a teensy bit smaller though.
Jeff Snugglebutton @ Sep 21st 2006 11:39AM
Just picked one up at Target. I really hope that someone "Apple" makes these, but smaller, into a runners version of the shuffle with bluetooth headphones. Yeh, they may not last all day but if I can get a 2 to 3 hour battery life out of these while jogging that would be great. The rubber finish would help with those drops and the convienence of having it on my wrist would be perfect. I think the new nano is nice but this may just work as a great MP3 player. Having a corded version wouldn't work since you would be pulling out the plugs everytime you moved your arm.
They are like 3X the size of the "livestrong" bracelets they are big... again pick them up at your local TARGET
greenfly360 @ Sep 21st 2006 11:51AM
I really want one! lol But noone has them round 'ere :( Lol
Dave95 @ Sep 21st 2006 12:05PM
Good idea, but how soon will we hear about companies calling these a security risk, much the same way they were saying iPods are company security risk, and banning them.
Yeah would love to run and listen to music with this around my risk, with some wifi or bluetooth headphones.
theattack @ Sep 21st 2006 12:27PM
what we really need is USB Snap Bracelets.
Brian @ Sep 21st 2006 1:59PM
Are these available online anywhere?
tekdroid @ Sep 21st 2006 2:47PM
sticking them in PC would result in curvy dangly bits. But perhaps the demographic who will react to this won't care?
kei @ Sep 21st 2006 5:10PM
looks okay...I'm in if these bracelets are waterproof so I am not dreading getting it soaked in a normal day.
warren @ Sep 21st 2006 7:11PM
I dont know about this. it looks like the bracelet could come apart and you would loose all your voulnerable data for someone to look at. maybe if you would put a password but it looks like someone could "acidentally take that off your wrist without you without even noticing! but cool idea.
greg @ Sep 21st 2006 11:13PM
you can put thin on it for free www.sogreg.com
Non-Bro @ Sep 22nd 2006 10:09AM
If I wear one, I'll be mistaken as a Bro and be invited to play ultimate frisbee.
Omar @ Sep 22nd 2006 6:14PM
Thats nice!
subcorpus @ Sep 23rd 2006 5:29AM
does it stretch ... ??
if it stretches ...
is water proof ...
and if they can make the ends a bit smaller, i'll buy one...
And yeah it has to be around 8/- ...
I'm sure they can sell it in schools and colleges ...
But not everyone would wear it on their wrists ...
Tara @ Oct 1st 2006 11:06PM
uhh.. what's a USB bracelet? am i the only one with no clue..?
Satira @ Oct 2nd 2006 5:42PM
Um a USB is something that holds data that you can take from your computer and transfer to other computers. Or just use that data for a backup.
kat @ Oct 4th 2006 5:15PM
it sounds like it'd great for some teachers who don't have a classroom and have to go all over the school & use whatever computer they can
Marty @ Feb 6th 2008 9:35AM
You may want to make them a look little classier and market to Medic Alert so people can carry their medical data for hospitals.
M B @ Jun 26th 2008 9:19PM
