Verizon launches MOTOKRZR K1m
Just as expected, Verizon is busting out Motorola's KRZR K1m sexyphone today. The 0.6-inch thick, 1.73-inch wide clamshell features a microSD slot, 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth -- just like always -- and of course the flip is shiny as ever. All this MOTOKRZR purty-ness can be yours for $199.99 with a 2-year contract, or $249.99 for a single year of Verizon servitude.

Bought 4 of these at X-mas 07. Two cracked front glass the first time they were dropped, 1 other got dropped, and glass separated from front housing... looks like cheap cloudy glue back there...! Only one is not cracked or separated, but one went "white screen" inside and out within 6 months, and ALL 4 have batter-life issues! Two won't charge, and have FRIED their chargers... (one has fried THREE chargers!!)... None will stay charged now, (only 6 months old), for more than 15 minutes, and GOD FORBID you should want to talk on it, it'll go BLEEP!!!!!! and die on you within 2 minutes!! I have NEVER had this problem with a Motorola phone before, but this has completely turned me off Motorola...! Paid damn near $1600 for four of these, from Cricket, and was told Protection Plan deductible was $50. Got a letter 4 months later saying OOPS!! we goofed!! We told you the wrong deductible, sorry, it's $85 per phone! I love Cricket service, and it's great for the kids, because it's unlimited, but I think this time we'll go with a Samsung... and one that doesn't have a glass front on it!! That was a really DUMB move!! Samsungs at least will hold up to normal use! (My kids aren't typical... they take good care of their phones, but these wouldn't hold up to the most careful user! Do yourself a favor, and choose a different phone... you'll be better off, TRUST ME!!
Wow. It's so... ugly.
I think they're running out of ideas.
lol they have a video of this phone on CNET, the guy at motorola said that the glass front will crack if you drop it. ROFL nice job Motorola.
look at that hinge! it's as big as my face.
When will Cingular get their version of the KRZR?
The phone loks nice, but with the ugly verizon interface and stripped down features, this phone definitely isn't worth it.
Ehh, the phone looks friggen huge, and doesn't look much different from the RAZR phone.
I'm looking into getting a new phone, but $250 for a RAZR rehash doesn't quite excite me.
Another clamshell? Where's the SLVR?
Holy cow, $200 with a 2 year contract.
I would expect the phone for free with that length of a tie in.
Tmobile anyone? any time soon?
and im with kramer...enough clamshells already
How do you pronounce "KRZR" again? Is it kray-zor?
Lol... "servitude"
I want to see some Sony Ericsson phones on Verizon :D I know i'm a dreamer :P
am I the only one who thinks that this looks ugly compared the the razr? It just looks un-naturally thin in terms of width.
That's my favorite thing about the razr, that it is small and thin, but yet when you're using it, it actually feels like you are using a phone, not some kind of toy.
I agree with wunderbar, the KRZR looks cheap, and in my opinion, very unattractive.
I was recently talked into getting a new cell phone and I went with the black RAZR and I am not disappointed with my decision at all. The phone gets great reception, fits very comfortably in my pocket and feels like a nice phone while I use it. The KRZR, on the other hand, looks like they sacrificed the feel for size, and it looks like a cheap plastic finish that I'd expect from a toy. I do not want to sound all high and mighty with the RAZR, but that's how I feel the KRZR compares.
Not to mention, if you can only get this with Verizon for right now then oh well. Verizon had some of the worst customer service that I had ever seen.
I am pretty sure that it has a glass quartz finish not a cheap plastic one like you said.
if you're a fan of Moto's UI, Sprint's K1m will use it (or a slightly updated version of it):

I never liked the lack of width since I first saw the phone. The only interesting thing this will have over the Razr is Verizon's new Flash UI and the glass front w/ heat sensitive buttons. Other than that, it's just another slim cell phone.
Yeah... the CNET video guy says it *won't* crack if you drop it...
TO those who says 'ugly' have you seen the real KRZR or just commenting since you can not afford or you are bound to contract with other provider.
Just got my hands on the phone and it is beautiful. The picture does not do it justice as you can't see how nice the glass coating is on it. The coloring is "Titanium", and it looks awesome when the outside touch buttons light up for MP3 functionality. IMO, this phone makes the RAZR look cheap not the otherway around.
KRZR? Um.
Is that
"KRAZIER" as in "MOTO just keeps getting KRAZIER with these names!"
"KRAZER" as in "Someone who goes KRAZY a lot is a KRAZER."
"KRUIZER" as in "This new phone is a KRUIZER. I don't know what that means. It's fast, i guess."
"K-RAZR" as in "Like a RAZR, but K-RAD!"
"KRACK ZMOKER" as in "Whoever's coming up with these names is a serious KRACK ZMOKER."
Ugh.
I'm sick of Verizon's crippled phones and the inflexibility of CDMA. Switching to T-mobile, even if I'll take a rural-RF hit. I rarely spend much time in the boonies, anyway.
I ordered one earlier today for $99 with the new every 2 deal. While I'm not happy Verizon locks down their phones, they currently have the best service in the northeast. Unfortunatly the phone won't be coming till monday, so I'm stuck with my current crappy samsung a870 till then.
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. The RAZR family must die, doesn't motorola realize that that lip thing on the bottom of the flip is UGLY, hinders function for those of us who like having our phone hanging on our pocket, is sooooooooo conformist(50 million suckers served on a phone meant to be unique? now only the blue V3 is exclusive in any way, besides the 102349801645 spinoff models like the MAXX and the V3i and the D&G V3i)
even after sprint gets this, i'm refusing it simply because of that fugly lip. same reason i walk around with my blade telling razr owners to shove a PEBL in their ass. no phone is perfect for me, but the blade and the M610(if it's available in black and doesnt have the lip) come damn close.
> doesn't motorola realize that ... is sooooooooo conformist
> (50 million suckers served on a phone meant to be unique?
You kidding? We have this thing called "business" here. Something tells me "conformity kills artistic expression, don't do it" isn't on the list of ways to make money. Moto would be more than happy if every single human had a RAZR or 10.
Conformist sheepism is a good reason for *you* not to buy a product, but a corporation is likely to have quite the opposite take on the matter. Percieved exclusivity breeds "cool factor" which breeds sales. I can take or leave the RAZR, but selling 50 million of them is a sign of success, if you ask me.
good news with this phone: Verizon seems to be improving slightly with their Bluetooth support. The KRZR page says one of the Bluetooth profiles it supports is "Object Push for vcard and image transfer only." Halfway there, Verizon!
dammit i was hoping that this phone wouldnt have dropped here for atleast a year like the V3i... oh well verizon still sucks... cingular will probably fast track this one now, and just piss me off b/c every mom and grandma will have it
Just got this phone 4 days ago. Dropped from waist height and the front screen cracked. P.S. I'm not a giant.
Graduated from a razor I had had over a year and dropped numerous times. I'll take this in for warranty and see about switching to a new phone
I just got the moto krazer i love it has so many more features than my old phone. To look at a photo does no justice you must see to belive in it. I like it!!
For those who comment on the phone without actually seeing a real one, not just an image - the pictures do not do the phone justice. First - the size. Its a small phone. RAZR looks big and clunky, compared to it. Second - it does not look cheap. It does have a noticeably more sophisticated look than a RAZR. Conclusion - go to the store and look at the phone yourself, you will have a totally different opinion after you actually see and feel this phone in your hands.
Mine cracked... after 3 months. fell from my sit to the floor in class and ugh, theres a slash right now. i dont think they shouldnt stick with the glass thing in the front. i mean, you get my point. still, it's a good all-around phone though.
