BenQ MP510 projector hits for $500
Looks like BenQ is running the whole gamut of projectors these days. Shortly after we saw one of its higher-end models drop late last month, we now get word of a new projector that costs 1/10th the price. The MP510 packs 1500 lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and an 800 x 600 resolution -- all for $500. To date, the only other projector that we've seen at this price is the Lumenlab 1000 projector, which does have better resolution, but an inferior lumen output and contrast ratio. The MP510 will do 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i and has the usual assortment of analog inputs, including RGB, component and S-Video. Expect this inexpensive projector to come to a home theater or boardroom near you later this month.

In the specs it says:
Resolution (Native / Max) SVGA (800 x 600)
SXGA (1280 x 1024)
score now i need a white wall or screen.
No HDMI Output? $500 is pretty sweet though...
so it cant do REAL 720p then? it must be down sampled or something right? 720p being 720 horizontal lines, when this only has 600?
Chaz
It's also a 4:3 resolution whereas HD is all 16:9 Widescreen.
Hey and bulbs for the thing are only $400...
"The MP510 will do 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i"
not with a 800x600 native resolution it isn't. accepting something as an input and actually displaying it faithfully are two VERY different things.
just like people who have 1366x768 LCD panels claiming that "1080i/p" will run on them. yes. it will be capable of displaying a 1080i/p source input. it is NOT however displaying it fully. you'd be better off running an input closer to the native resolution however.
What do you people want? It's a $500 projector. It's not going to do HD.
Something like this would suit me nicely, if it wasn't for the globes costing so much to replace.
For anybody needing a nice cheap projector, this is the bomb. I have an XGA Benq 6200 for a couple years now and love it. XGA is a little better, but for folks waiting to jump into decent FP, this really fits the bill.
Enjoy.
