Xbox rolls out 1080p / VGA fix
Everybody who had problems with the 1080p support on their Xbox 360 with the fall update rollout, we have good news. According to the Major, Microsoft is now rolling out updates for improved 1080p and VGA supports (as well as some performance fixes for wired headsets on wireless controllers). Get it while it's hot (i.e. log on to Xbox Live, let it do its thing).[Thanks, Manh]

But are they going to fix the consoles they bricked?
SAMSUNG 244T 24" LCD - Native Resolution 1920 x 1200 - I Select 1080p with the new "update" and IT STILL DISPLAYS A resolution of 1440 x 1050!!! WTF?! This monitor MOST DEFINITELY SUPPORTS 1920 x 1080, I've set that resolution in Windows XP MYSELF!!! I am so disappointed!!!! What's the deal?
are you using VGA or Component on that 244T?
Are you using the VGA or Component with that Samsung 244T?
You've got a 24" display... can you really tell the difference?
/rhetorical question
What I REALLY want...is a update for PGR3 that lets you play the f'ing thing properly over VGA...
It outputs in some stupid ass 1280x768 or some such funky resolution, the MENU doesnt, just in game...and MS/Bizarre has sworn from day one that its not a fault of the game (sadly NO other game does this, just my beloved PGR...).
Much hate MS, much hate.
Hey I play pgr3 over vga and if you set your resolution at 1024x768 it displays in widescreen letter box perfectly
this update doesnt work... still no 1080 goodness :'(
My 499 BlackFriday 32" MAG is only 720p. I'm the suck.
Bricked my console. Pretty pissed about that.
Bricked mine also. Most things still work but several games now do not, and one I know at least one of the games was working perfectly 8 hours prior to this update
Did the update today, got my HD-DVD drive ready and my Dell 2407FPW is supposedly out for delivery, we'll see how it does.
Could anyone tell me if this fix will enable the Xbox 360 to use 1080p on the Dell 2407WFP?
Last I heard, It would only work in 720p.
Thanks,
-Baldwin

I have the 2407
But 1080p does not work 1080i works!
Still no good.
No 1080p with my dell 2405fpw :-( (over component.)
What about the freezing issues? The internets are still full of reports on this.
is there any noticable difference between 1080i and 1080p? considering I am on a 23" philips widescreen and mayb trading up to the dell 2407
Great...now WHERE IS THE DAMN HDMI CABLE?
Great News, Just applied the update succesfully!! I was having a few issues with some echo on the wired headest on my wireless contoller, I hope this fixes it. Microsoft has been pushing alot of updates recently, though I haven't had any issues except the echo at certain times.
and here i got all excited.... my Dell 2407 WILL NOT take the 1080p signal.... tells me it is "out of range" and i need to set resolution to "1920x1200 at 60hz"
gay
Now, the image is shifted to the right at 1280x768 on my TV set via VGA ... wtf? Did anyone at MS test this patch before releasing it. Is there a way to uninstall it?
ib.
you should have a reset screen setting some where just look for it. same thing happened to me and i fixed it with the reset screen setting.
VGA yes with the 244t
Dell P1690 24" CRT capable of 1920x1200 at up to 72hz, screen goes black, monitor briefly turns off and then comes back again at the old resolution. Annoyed but at least 720p still looks stunning 1 foot from the screen.
Does anyone know whether 1080p can be utilized via component cable on a Sony Bravia KDL 46V2500? I am getting a black screen when I try, and using VGA makes the picture look WORSE. Any help?
1080p is overrated anyways. most people cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
There is a huge difference between 720P and 1080p, are you kidding me?
How about 1080i VGA support for the millions of projection TVs
that were built prior to HD Component video be accepted in the market? Seems a little silly that they can introduce interlacing into 1080P Component video but not into 1080P RGB video.
My 360 HD DVD drive is connected to the 2405FPW through VGA and is displaying 1080p quite beautifully!
LOL... this is what you get for trying to add a new feature that was never intended for in the first place. It seems like every incompatibility they fix creates new ones.. so, they will eventually ask you to select your monitor so that 360 can apply the correct patch.
The only problem with that is that my monitors native resolution is 1280x1024 :(
sorry this reply was for Ireney Berezniak .
if you go to the far left blade on the dashboard (i think it's called settings) and then click on "console settings" (first one on the list) you can change your resolution from there.
My Bravia KDL-46XBR3 is now displaying 1080P correctly through VGA. Thank You MS!
Now if I could only get lossless decoding of Dolby TrueHD out of the Xbox HD DVD player!
Its not a great difference between 720p and 1080p.In order to actually see some sort of a difference your TV set should be 40 inches and bigger.Anything smaller you wont notice much.
In reply to Wonderboy and vid33nyc1. Yes with a 24" LCD TV it might be hard to spot the difference between 720p and 1080p but with a 24" TFT monitor (which all of the posters are talking about) the difference is easily spottable.
Yeah, the 2407 wont do 1080p over component, but we have known this for a long time now...
It does, however, do 1080p over VGA. I have tested it and i will confirm it works.
Man I got the Vga cable and im running the xbox 360 at 2160P!!!!!!!!!!!!! man its beyond beautiful. its like i can reach out and touch the game..
