Two Bosses Enter: The Four Horsemen vs. The Twin Emperors

Two bosses enter... but only one of them will get to leave in WoW Insider's own series of fantasy deathmatches. We've made a list of 32 of the the most dangerous and the most interesting bosses within the World of Warcraft and now we're pitting them against each other one at a time. In the end, we'll wind up with a single winner to claim victory over all others. And the best part? You get to decide who wins -- your vote tells us who wins and loses each round.

Today's matchup pits The Four Horsemen from Naxxramas against the Twin Emperors from Ahn'Qiraj -- while this does make it a two on one, I don't think anyone can argue that it's not a fair fight. Want to learn a little more about these bosses -- and have your chance to voice an opinion about which one might come out on top in a fight? Read on!

Who, you ask, are the Four Horsemen? They're four powerful death knights pledged to the service of Kel'thuzad, and they spend their time safeguarding his citadel, Naxxramas. Each of the horsemen -- Highlord Mograine, Thane Korth'azz, Lady Blaumeux, and Sir Zeliek -- would be a difficult encounter on their own. However, they're particularly tricky as a group.

In a fight, each horseman has a special ability:

  • Mograine: Righteous Fire deals an amount of fire damage up front and also applies a high-damage fire debuff to its target.

  • Korth'azz: Casts a Meteor which does a large amount of fire damage to anyone in its range.

  • Blaumeux: Summons a Void Zone that will do a reasonable amount of shadow damage to anyone in its vicinity.

  • Zeliek: Casts a Holy Wrath spell which will chain from target to target. The damage starts out being fairly minor, but it doubles each time it jumps to a new target.

However, the real difficulty of the fight is the way the horsemen's powers, combined together, create a very unfriendly environment for their opponents. Each horseman applies a specific debuff to all enemies in range. These debuffs deal a set amount of damage, but stack -- before long they're deadly. In a fight with players, the only option is to separate them so you're only getting one set of debuffs at any given time. But even pulling the four apart, it's a race against time to kill them before they stack their debuffs stack to a completely unmanagable level.

I think I've given you all the information that's important to today's fight, but if you want to know more about the details of the fight, check WoWWiki.

The Twin Emperors, Vek'nilash and Vek'lor, reside in Ahn'Qiraj, and are the final hurdle before players reach C'thun. And they are quite the challenge.

Emperor Vek'lor deals physical damage and is immune to all magical damage. Emperor Vek'nilash deals magical damage and is immune to all physical damage. When they're near enough to each other, they'll heal one another -- for 30,000 health at a time. And every 30 to 40 seconds, they'll teleport and switch places. And you can't just focus on bringing one down at a time, because they share health pools with one another. Tricky.

While I think I've explained all of the things pertanent to this fight, if you'd like you can read up on all the gory details at WoWWiki.

So, after reading that, who do you think is up to the challenge? Remember, for the purposes of this pole, we're presuming that everyone involved is approximately the same level, same health, and same damage output. Our vote is specifically meant to compare their two fighting styles -- not the exact number of hit points each of them have.

Sorry, everyone, but voting for this week's fight is now closed. However, you can read up on the results here!
