Red Ring Chronicles Pt 2: the Coffin

And so, the Red Ring Chronicles continue with that fateful second step: the coffin. Having called Microsoft customer support last Wednesday (Aug. 1), the coffin was on my doorstep on Monday (Aug. 6), three business days after I called, which seems pretty standard. After hearing so much about 360 coffins, I had imagined a more specialized container (specifically, something that looked a little more like this). Instead, I got a cardboard box, some heavy duty packing foam, a plastic bag, and some instructions. After snickering at the morbidly funny picture on the plastic bag, I proceeded to package the once proud beast. If you've never returned an Xbox, you should know that all Microsoft wants is your Xbox. No hard drive, cables, or anything like that.

Just about ready to goWith the 360 wrapped up snuggly, I slapped on some included tape and a return UPS label. Rather than pay UPS to come pick it up, I dropped it off at my local Office Depot (which regrettably took me until Wednesday). According to UPS, my beloved box should reach its Texas destination in a few hours. So there we have it, the second step in the repair of an Xbox 360. Now there is but one step: the Return. The question, however, is how long the period between steps two and three will be. Any suggestions on how to bide my time are welcome.

Update: By popular demand, I've added some images of my recently modded Nerf Maverick pistol to the gallery. I did it the same day I ordered my coffin. Without my 360, you see, I had nothing better to do.
