Sony Ericsson's "Next Big Thing" coming June 14th
So, remember the rumor that June 14th would see the launch of some major new handsets from Sony Ericsson? Right, well consider it a fact now that SE has issued a formal invitation to "the next big thing" event in Berlin to "celebrate the latest developments in Sony Ericsson Music and Imaging." Of course, now the rumor mill is churning with speculation over which phones will launch. According to a veteran Esato forum jockey, SE will be announcing the HSDPA 850 Sofia packing a 5 megapixel shooter along side the W950 Walkman successor dubbed the Maria/Mooi/W960 which touts 8GB of flash storage. There's also hope of seeing the HSDPA 850 Shinobu Walkman slider with music shaker feature -- tilt forward to skip to the next track, back to skip backwards, and shake it for a random track. Mark your calendars kids, it's going to be interesting.

yeah just like the "big announcement" today for the ps3
Make it the official announcement of the Sony P1 for under 299... and they've officially got my money. Well that and it has Skype.
Make it happen Sony. You're hemorrhaging money at just about every seam there is. A must-have gadget at a good price would improve that bottom line.
Or just hire me. At least I'd not sell a Blu-Ray player for 100 bucks under my best-selling Blu-Ray player (PS3) and not further undercut my hopes of making Blu-Ray ubiquitous with next-generation optical based movies.
Bah. They never listen. Hope this announcement is a worthy one.
Is it just me, or does the title not make sense:
"I [logo] the next big thing"
Is it supposed to be 'love'? *scratches head*
Most of this is good but would be better if they put out a larger capacity micro. 2gb is not enough to buy a phone and until they do put out a bigger one the w810 and w850 remain on top for me.
I guess this is going to be held at the Sony Center in Berlin? Anyone going?
I never knew SE held invites to their new products they just announce them.
LOL, nice lame attempt at suspense...sorry you're not Apple
LOL at their invite, looks like a poor Apple knock-off: Be interesting to see what they are announcing though,

You wanna know what they're showing...?
Dude they copied the Apple marketing, you think they're NOT gonna copy the Apple Phone? heheh
And may I add, this thing looks low budget as hell..
Apple iphone more like Apple icrap no 3G, can't removed the battery lol
@PS3guy
For me its the Apple iCrap because it doesn't have integrated GPS. I can live without the 3G and removable battery. I was hoping the iPhone would have GPS so I could mount it in my car like a TomTom, use bluetooth for any incoming calls, and auxillary connection for piping the music through my speakers. One can only hope.
You're kidding me right? An Apple rip off? SE has been doing music phones for a helluva lot longer than Crapple. The w950i is a 4GB touchscreen music phone. I run with it everyday. It's also almost 1.5 years old already...who is copying who?
here is the site

Why is this exciting? Who has time to care about this when the iPhone is out?
not everyone cares about the featureless crap called the iphone.
you people are SO brain Washed From Apple it's unbelievable !!!! People Just Like To Stand with The Weak !!!!
People HATE MICROSOFT Windows Because Apple's OS is Worse !!!
While at the SAME TIME people Hate Sony And LOVE MICROSOFT Because the PS3 Beats the Crap Out of 360 !!!!
AND MY N95 is Much Better Than iPhone What more can you ask for... 5mp - GPS - 16m Color Display Stereo Speakers.....REMOVABLE BATTERY...
LOL @ this meltdown!!!
I hope the 'next big thing' is a joystick that doesn't fail.
As far as I'm concerned, 'the next big thing' had better be the Vista compatible software suite they should have released six months ago.
I love me some Vista, but if I had known that two of my most used apps (namely Divx and SE Phone Suite) weren't yet fully (or at all, in SE's case) compatible with the new OS, I very well might have put off the upgrade until both were. I understand (somewhat) about the holdup for Divx, but what excuse could a major company like SE have for this sort of delay? To add insult to injury, they are the only major phone manufacturer that seems to be having a hard time porting their software. I love my W810i, but I was not happy when I was basically told by SE tech support "sorry, if you need PIM integration etc, your best bet is a 3rd party app until at least Q2."
SE Phone Suite is shit and has never worked for me, ever. I reccomend just ignoring it entirely and treating your phone and phone memory card as USB drives, and dragging and dropping your files. Much easier, that's the way it should have always been.
I felt the same way when using it with my Z520, but when I kicked up to the W810i, everything seemed to work the way it was supposed to. That is, until I upgraded to Vista, and tried to install the phone suite.
Tech support confirmed for me over the phone this afternoon that the Vista compatible version is indeed coming out 'very soon' as in 'a matter of weeks,' so I guess I will just wait and see. There are lots of third party apps out there, so if I have to go that route, at least I'll have lots of options. If it wasn't for the massive amounts of contact and calendar info I transfer between my phone and PC, I wouldn't bother, but when my phone and software worked the way they were supposed to, keeping track of my schedule and business/school contacts was so much easier.
