Embotec's Counterfeit Money Detector Mouse -- no, really
Ok, here's a combination we didn't see coming: the computer mouse / counterfeit money detector. The Embotec EM-D275 is expected to make its way into hands of gas station attendants and Dante Hicks sometime in July for an undisclosed price. Add shotgun and they'll have Alphabet City cornered.

WTF mate

I'm appalled that I'm actually saying this, but, I can actually see this being useful in retail and banking environments. Strange, but cool.

I was just thinking the same thing when I read it. I've been to a number of retail stores where they have to hold the bill up to try and find any security to make sure it was real. Anything over a certain amount. And with computers being the norm in most retail stores built into the register, why not a mouse with two uses?

I have seen MANY useless combinations of items before, some that never really got off the ground, and some that really should NOT have ever gotten off the ground too ! This is going to be an exception, I believe. Both items are almost mandatory in a retail environment any more, and by tethering the counterfeit bill detector right to the PC, will ensure that it is handy all the time, and will not get lost ! I would hope that they really never make a cordless version of this - my daughter "lost" her wireless mouse in her pigsty of a room that is all tooooo common with teenagers !

How about just replacing the currancy with something a wee bit more secure?
