Bongo Pong weds gaming, balance with makeshift Indo board
Another day, another DIY attempt to reinvent the world's most reinvented title. On the docket today is Bongo Pong, a nifty iteration of the famed classic that utilizes a Velleman Pong kit, a makeshift Indo board (read: bare skateboard deck), a few "small metal tubes to use for the tilt activated switches," and a beefy cut of PVC pipe. Total costs rang up just under $20, and while this version of Pong isn't apt to inflate your triceps, it should test your balance (and patience) supremely. seconds and seconds of pure pleasure....
rofl!, this is a cool concept but that guy is TERRIBLE at his own game
This game can only end in tears! :(
Logical next step: Beer Bongo Pong (and it ain't going to be pretty)
I think it could work. Slow down the game and change the screen orientation so that left and right movement would translate to left/right movement... Or just switch the game all together to Breakout. Not too shab for a DIY.
Ha ha this bastards spam links dont work.
.......You still got reported.
Ways to make the game better:
1, Do not play pong at insane speed, I'd find that hard enough with a proper controller;
2, Select a smaller tube, unless you have awesome balance;
3, Do not use a regular skateboard deck. The nose and tail do not help, and the concave down the length means you have to balance in another dimension;
4, Add 'stops' near the ends of the board's underside. This is optional, but it does prevent you falling off most of the time.
This is pretty much the ideal size and shape (except the rail down the length, that's a bit pointless): http://www.lushlongboards.com/boards-other-boards-c-196_88.html?p=shop
I have tried gaming on a balance board, and despite being able to do both competantly on their own, I find the two together REALLY difficult.
Actually, it's a personal web site, not a spam link, and I didn't make it an active link on purpose. If people are interested enough to find about it, they'll cut and paste it. If not, cest la vie.
