In what way is the Internatl Wi-Fi different, it still has a cable going to the USB port
the wifi adapter itself is no longer outside the console. Thus being internal. Integrated items are always nice.

To be extraordinarily pedantic, you'd be miffed if someone stepped on your toe, but you'd be puzzled, or curious, if someone modded their xbox to look more xboxen.

Hey guys. Christian here. Think you guys are to hung up on the red ring of death. It's not what moddings about. When getting into modding that's the risk you take and we modders are all well aware it can happen. Anyway thanks to Engadget for featuring my mod.

@wetworker: No we don't. I have apple everything and I'd sooner fart purple sparkles than buy a windows PC, but I loooooove my 360. Never had a Red Ring of Death, love the interface, love the graphics, love the games.

I mean, I'm an avid Apple user. I love my MacBook to death, and I loved my Mac mini, iMac, and iBook(s) and Powerbook almost as much... But I also love my XBox 360 and have had one since launch.
I don't understand your logic. Nobody mentioned Apple, and most Apple users understand that the XBox 360 is not Windows, and the people who develop the 360 are not the same people who develop Windows. Different part of the company. Different attitudes.
I love my Microsoft mouse, too, by the way. It works very well when I'm using MS Office on my MacBook.
Is the world really that black or white to some people? Weird.

Dude read the text. Didn't draw or cut anything. That thing is a actual produced laser cut computer grill inserted from inside with the mesh and it actually curves outward and that's why in the picture it looks off.

Thanks. Considering the type of comments regularly left on other articles at Engadget it seems it's a regular thing for most of these guys to throw out immature statements. Not bothered by them. Free speech right. But there are some constructive criticism left as well.
Sad thing is I'm a Apple fan too. Have a iPhone, laptop, and iPod and even use AppleTV 160G unit.

Yes "dudes" because you guys are cool and rule the world and if we say something you don't like, a vain starts throbbing on the front of your head and things like "fan boyz" and "one-button-mouse" or "check out this article about a vulnerability someone recently discovered in OSX" are the only decent things you can produce.
Oh and yes Steve Jobs is a doll, i just adore the man! He makes these cute computers and cute stuff and ... it makes me feel all warm inside. Even if we would mod our Apple-fan-boyz-gadgetz we would probably paint them pink and put little stars on them that glow in the dark. We might even come up with a MacBook Pro Martha Stewart edition!

The internal heat the fans don't remove actually gets dispersed out through the grill. In tern helps reduce the chances.
I actually really like the led lit grill and the X on the side...although I do agree maybe a little color variation. The X button on the HDD tho definitely looks outta place. And is that that green cable coming off the back the power cable? What is that box it's going to? A power supply?....
....Oh wait nvm, I see it now, it's going to the HDD, but why? And how?
Well first for the lights. Then I thought. What the hell since I'm in the drive might as well use it to power the HDD independently.

Same thought. All I added was the Grill and emblem on top. 2 thing done each one lighted. Yeah 2 things is a lot. Overkill, waayyyy to much. Bad me.
Will you PS3 fanboys get off of the Red Ring of Death already? Yeah, its a problem for some consoles. But it isn't all of them. My launch system still works just fine.
I like the mod. Quite tasteful compared to some mods I've seen.

I'm sure the minute the XBox fans stop crying about game selection the PS3 fans will stop mocking the system reliability. Then again, maybe not... but you can't blame one side for all the hate.
No, the PS3 fans won't stop crying about the Xbox reliability whether or not xboxers say anything one way or the other about PS3 game availability. Even with the last generation of consoles there was a PS2/Xbox rivalry when neither of those issues was at play.
Dont know why for sure, but it seems like when people pick one of the two (usually not both because of cost), they have to bash the other. I think that it is currently the case, though, that PS3 owners are getting frustrated that sales aren't what they had hoped, game selection isn't yet what they have hoped, and that frustration has to come out on someone. And since the Xbox is selling better and currently has more games, there is an assumption that it is taking away PS3 sales. To some degree that may be true, but we can't say for sure. But that's no justification for heated discussions, name calling and petty comments now, is it?
Personally I own both (all 3 if you count the Wii as current gen). But I do use my 360 a lot more because I can do so much more with it. The PS3 will have some great games at some point, though. Hopefully by then a few of those that insist on bashing owners of the other console will be distracted enough by the games that they won't have to spend all of their time trolling 360 owners forums.
Too bad Xbox the PS3 fanbots are saying a fact.
The failure rates for 360s are unacceptable.
It may have good games, but I am not going to keep sending it in get fixed when there is a 43% it'll get a RRoD.
Its interesting how the number gets increased every time it is quoted. Nobody even knows the real number these days.
Whether or not a piece of information is factual is irrelevant. Someone could tell me "you're ugly" and whether it is true or not, it doesn't accomplish anything.

Notice the three X-boxes in the pictures , yeah , you're gonna three at all times in case your first two break , which will happen. 1 out of 3 X-Box 360s break , google it , Mircrosoft has to give every X-Box they sell now , a 3 year warranty. No thanks , I'll stick with my PS3 , even if it cost a little more. And Live... , what a ripoff , who actually wants to play online?
I don't loose sleep over it. It happens it happens. Only online thing I do is demo's and they don't cost anything and you don't need a "gold membership" which is the rip off part of Xbox live to get them. I myself love my PS3 as well and can't wait until home is finished. Also remember we'll be paying for content for PS3 as well.
Here's an Idea for you monkeys:
If you want to make front page news: take that Xbox360, instead of drawing or engraving an "X" logo, replace that with a cutout of the GOOGLE logo and make it say, "powered by Google"...that will get MSFT panties in a bunch - and it will be funny - at least I will laugh :D
I find absolutely nothing intriguing about the modded design - in fact, if it ain't broke, don't touch it! I'd be embarrassed to display that xbox360 out in the open - if MSFT wanted that design, they would've opted to make it so.

Meh...I like the white. I did the same mod for my bud's Elite. Does look sharp. May do one of my own sometime soon. The camera shots were done with a flash so the green is actually much more muted.
got to say i do like the mods.. but must say that the extra power cord to the HDD is well kinda useless. just another cord you have to lug around, AND another wall outlet taken up. so that i got to say isnt the greatest other then that i think its pretty spiffy.
o and this is being typed on a mac for all those people who think just because u own a mac cant get over the fact that they can like MS a little. and yes i have a 360 too and i do like it..

It's not an extra power cord. All the cable go to one Power Supply. So only one outlet plug used.
Your last comments are spot on. I go for what electronics are good. If it happens to be a Apple, PC, Sony or Microsoft. I don't let bias dictate if I should buy or not. If it's a good product brand is not as important. It's call free enterprise.

It was cut by a computer guided laser according to the modder.
Another stencil guy. It's not a cut out X. It's a PC Laser cut metal fan grill inserted from the inside. It curves outward with a stereo style fan mesh so on certain angles it looks warped.

Let me revise my statement: the camera angle at which that picture was taken (top left) is utter shit. It makes the X look really bad. I'm positive it's done well, but the picture is deceiving.
Fair enough. Camera's still shoot in 2D. You loose true 3D effect. In person you can see the curve properly and actually looks good either angle.
The of the X on the retail site looks terrible, too.
I need 3D goggles.

Hey man, nice mod. I wonder if the added vents are part of why it hasn't overheated. But as for RRoD issues... I had a system last close to a year. Give me the red ring of death and then heal itself for about 2 months... it was weird confused both me and the support agent.
It all stems of of bad cohesiveness with the chips and the board. With extreme heat some defective machines loose contact with the chips. Sometimes when it cools down it falls back in place and all of a sudden works again. For some anyway. The vent does help some since the heat that is generated outside the fans reach can disperse through the hole/vent.
I have an xbox 360, and i love it. It has had the red ring of death and its really not that big of a deal, SO what i lose my console for 2 weeks not that big a deal to me. Its summer and its actually ok with me to go outside and spend sometime in the yard instead of playing. I love the X grill on the side Christian, and i like the controller X that you put on it. Also the great internal wifi is great, that is one problem with the console but I like the mod!!
personally I think it would look best just all white, no LEDs. I think the LEDs make it look too much like a gaming computer. but this is still amazing, and I'm totally jealous.
and again, I own a 360, it's worked perfectly for over 6 months, I own a PSP and the only reason i don't have a PS3 is that it costs 500 or 600 bucks. i hate macs, but that's not the point here ;)
During daylight the lights are barely noticeable. So I get the look your mentioning, just the white console.
Enjoy my PS3 but it's not modding friendly so it's just chilling there until I play it. My 360 gets more of my attention.

Uh RROD? 66% of consoles NOT doing that still (even though most RRODs are caused by overheating and that is TOTALLY controllable- stupid consumer), and that percentage is sure to rise now that they have the new heatsink in there.
Nice mod, too. Better looking than many I've seen- I just wonder why he got rid of the chrome accents. Unlike the PS3, the chrome accent actually looked pretty good.

Almost TWO YEARS since launch, and I've not had a single scratched disc, RROD, overheating problem, or freeze. NOT ONE PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASE AT LAUNCH.
I also sold them, and of the hundreds I sold, I only ever heard of about a dozen having ANY problems.
The RROD/Overheating/Scratched discs tales are SERIOUSLY OVERBLOWN online. Maybe there's a problem with 3% to 5% of consoles, but when you get a reliable one (which is probably somewhere in the area of 95% of the consoles in stores right now) they work GREAT, with no problems. even when left on for DAYS AT A TIME.
This is getting really annoying. A few idiots don't take care of their console and have a problem, and they blame it on "defects", while a scant few others got legitimately defective consoles and had them repaired in a timely manner, but they still see fit to rant and rave about it as if the sky is falling. The rest of us are happy, with no problems... But nobody listens to us when we say "Everything's cool here."
Well, I'm saying it AGAIN: EVERYTHING IS COOL WITH MY 360. It works great, and has since launch, even when I power it up on Monday and power it off on Wednesday... No problems.

Nice mod. I think the backlight makes the X look strange in the photo. It must look really nice in the dark. My question is, is it too bright and distracting in the dark?
Actually the Camera make the light like 2X brighter than it is. It's actually more subtle in real life. And when they say photographs add weight, it includes objects. It looks bulkier in the pics as well.

The Apple fanboy statement is the stupidest thing I've heard this week. Granted it's only Monday, but I really am confident I won't hear something sillier all week.
A nice mod, but as I don't like green, I think it would have looked cooler in a soft, electric blue. Just my opinion, can't fault the idea or execution.
So, if you DO get the red lights (any combination) do all of the leds go red?
If I was going to be so paranoid about 3 red lights I wouldn't have even bothered buying a 360 at all. And if was to happen, with mods or not, wouldn't make a difference to the chances.
