Myvu intros solo plus HMD with support for new iPods
Just in case you were worried during "The Beat Goes On" that the new iPods wouldn't work with the current generation of head-mounted displays (which they apparently won't), myvu has come to the rescue with a new model that -- besides a shared distaste for capitalization -- also features an Apple authorization chip for guaranteed compatibility. The solo plus follows the nearly-identical solo that we saw earlier in the year, sporting a low-profile design, wired remote, and integrated, noise-canceling, earbud headphones, while playing nice with the touch, classic, and 3G nano. Also like the solo, the solo plus will retail for $200 when it hits stores in October, so start filling out those return slips if you happened to have purchased an original unit recently.

This would have the dubious effect of allowing you to watch video from your iPod touch in lower resolution than the iPod touch. Hmm.
Support for iPod Touch or iPhone? If I didn't have glasses already I'd so get this just for the nerd coolness factor ;)
but iPods are crap!
What's the deal with 5/5.5G & 6G having different video out?
$$$
Do these things let you kill the horrid-looking earphones that come with it?
Gee, it's getting close to being something many of us really want - comfortable personal high definition eyewear. I'm waiting for the real thing...and for complete sets of smoothly variable controls on all pods, be they i's, Touch's, whatever.
I'm waiting for the Virtual Light model myself, so that my retinas won't get tired.

I saw some guy in 1st Class on a recent flight wearing this (or the prior model) and he looked like a complete dickwad.
That was me, and I'm afraid the reality is that I don't look any better without the glasses. Another reality, and the beauty, IS, though, that I have no reason to care how I look to you. Not cool is much more enjoyable than not bored, n'es pas?
Strawman argument... there are plenty of ways to not be bored on a plane whilst not looking like a douche.
And don't pretend to not care how you look... I am sure you don't walk around in velour sweatsuits just because it is comfortable.
he was probably watching pron.
Chris, I really don't give a shit about who or what you saw recently anywhere. Now go finger your iPhone and keep imagining how cool you are.
I don't own a single Apple product, and I wouldn't buy an iPhone to save your life. I am happy for you, really, now that you can finally wear a functional device that lets you pretend you are the blind guy from Star Trek.
All I've got to say about eyeglasses that promise big viewing is... eye-strain. Doh! Yep, that's what happens when you focus on something that is about an inch form your eyes for a prolonged period od time. Seriously, didn't they do any clinical research to see how much damage they can cause by people not knowing what could happen using their device? You think your eyes get tired focused on a computer screen 18-24 inches from your face, put something and inch away and focus on it for about an hour and a half and see if you can see anything at a distance. Do this each day for a month and see how much longer it takes you to focus at a distance.
Oh yeah, not only do you lose your distance vision, but you look like that dork in First-Class who paid 5x as much for his ticket while being a dweeb with his "I'm so cool!" glasses on.
I assume you were kidding 'azayzel' ? Yes, these are very close tou your eye but no more so that a regular pair of glasses. You do realise they have a correction lens and that makes a world of difference? That said, I remember trying on some horrible bulky headset back in the day when VR was predicted to be huge and was aware of people remarking on the nausea it caused. For me the nausea kicked-in after 10 mins!
Anyway, with proper design I quite like the idea of these HMDs but the picture quality would have to be worthwhile.
Hi! i bought 1 myvu to my husband last xmas, and aboiut a month ago he change his ipod video for the new one and it doesnt seem to work? do any of you know if theres something we can do, software that we can download or it was just money wasted? :S
