previous statement laden with typos (doh!), sry meant to say "did these people not go to driving school?" despite my dislike for idiot drivers/parking it is pretty cool tech even if the people that need this can't afford/won't use this.
Yeah but it's cool tech and even I would like it around when I'm at the supermarket and some bloody idiot parked so close to me that I'd have to execute a vertical takeoff to get out.
You're right, many of us experienced drivers will never need this but this is definitely a plus for those stupid people that can't even change lanes without using the correct signal. Just because you don't need it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.
In the meantime, get rid of your cellphone and go back to the classic yellin'. GTFO.
Will the new Land Cruiser have this since they took away many of the nice offorad features of the car.

Actually, BMW has never had that system. Do you understand what "retrofit" means? In addition to that, affixing multiple cameras to a car is not the same integration anyway.
that camera man is a prime example of how we in the UK see Americans as a race. My God he is annoying.

It does not matter if they can see around corners, or had 360 degree radar. It's still not going to stop the idiot from talking on the phone and driving at the same time and running into people and things.

It's a neato gizmo, but definitely nothing revolutionary or out of the box...
Who cares? And what does that even have to do with Lexus implementing new technology?
The position of the camera on the side view mirror offers the same view I see from my driver seat. How much more effective is that when I'll be able to see what's on the closest side of my car. You wouldn't drive into a brick wall, so don't drive next to anything you can't see! Also this invention isn't the greatest thing! Don't annoint it as such. I don't know the wheel maybe? The engine perhaps? None of those? But a camera mounted to a car displayed on a dash? Please! All it will do is increase your dependancy of technology, which will in turn take your eyes off the road, so instead of seeing that you're not going to hit anything to the front right, you get sideswiped from the left. This is the worse thing a device can do.
Lexus has been on a roll with new technology lately. I look forward to seeing other manufacturers implement their own self-parking and corner-seeing systems in the near future.
how about a BACK wide-view angle too!! why just stop at the Front wide-view?? like we never back out of our garages, always wondering if someone is walking into our path!!!??? if they are gonna add something usefull, try adding a feature that is harder for consumers to manage on their own, like turning our heads and shoulders to see the rear wide view. it's certainly more difficult than turning our heads left and right facing forward.
