Olive intros flamboyant Opus No5 Karim Rashid Editions
Considering that Olive's Opus Nº5 already buried the compact disc (or so we're told), it makes sense to jazz up the unit and dance all over the CD's grave. Consequently, the outfit has sought out Karim Rashid to design four new motifs for the digital audio player, but internally, all the hardware remains the same. As for color choices, you'll find the darkened Digitalia, the rainbow-themed Fusion, Spectra and Morphologic waiting to be had, all of which will run you a dollar short of four grand and arrive with 750GB of storage space. Bargain hunters, you're better off elsewhere.

Investing in a CD player is like investing in a Hummer for city driving.
not really
One of these days I'll get around to making that rack mounted computer that runs XP and functions as a dedicated digital player. A lot cheaper than this too.
It's nice to know that someone still has all of the pieces of their Spirograph(R).
On their website, they now have the Kone, Kurv, and Kruz. Still 3 K's. The white Kone is on top. Call Oliver Stone.

Now I feel dirty for even looking.
Three 'K's... KKK... oh, oh my gosh.
I like that things with designs are available, if the designs are passable, and these seem to be.
Mind you it's probably easier if people just buy them as decals separately, that way you can offer more choice and you aren't left with unsold stock.
All that is moot if you overprice stuff by 4 million percent of course :)
It's disappointing when the designer is the selling point over the design itself -- Rashid is known for functional design after all. I hope he was paid handsomely because this degrades his reputation.
How stupid looking. Further proof that Karim Rashid is a waste.
so he made four crappy decals, his previous work with plastics is still dynamic
What sort of design work or innovation went into those 4 motifs? I've seen 3 of the 4 motifs at my local fabric store. The 4th one looks like it was ripped right off a mid-nineties screensaver. I really hate that guy. He thinks everything he puts his name on is a golden gift from God. The one true God being himself, Rockstar Designer Karim Rashid.
People must be so pleased when the hard drive in their $4000 contraption dies, taking 750GB of data down with it with no backup. It takes weeks to rip all this stuff.
now if they just hired him to design the case for the product...
Right...the great Karim Rashid's box design will make people spend $3000 on a CD player with a hard drive.
"his previous work with plastics is still dynamic" Not even close. So the guy can use solidworks; big deal, I'm not impressed. All the stuff on his site can be made up in minutes by anyone with a grasp of 3D design programs.
Kone? Kurve? Kruz? It's just Crap.
p.s. I'm surprised this guy isn't in bed with Steve Jobs. I'm predicting the Karim Rashid iPod coming soon.
@sgt_easton so youre saying rashids design will bring the price down 1k, sweet. sure anyone couldve done it but hes the only one who did, hate it or not, its dynamic, reminds of luigi colani but more commercial
