Latitude XT listed on Dell's site, remains elusive
Dell's promised the Latitude XT will launch tomorrow, but apparently forgot to mention that to one particular web engineer who has "Latitude XT" up in lights with its other Latitude brethren. Unfortunately, as soon as you click through all mentions of the XT disappear. What a tease. We'll keep you posted, but we're guessing this is an error and Dell isn't going to start selling the XT today just for kicks.

They need to change the design of those latitudes man. They all look the same and the design is kind of old, and whats the deal with "new XT" It doesn't look like anything new to me. It looks like all of the other latitudes?!... I am serious Dell needs to hire some designers that are not dead... look at Dell vostro, it looks like someone that has been dead for 20 years designed it...

Business customers don't want laptops designed for children with flashy lights and pinstripes. Dell knows this, which is why the Latitude line hasn't changed much, and also why they brought out the Vostro line. They're both a more professional looking line as compared to the Insprions.

I am sorry. Do u own a vostro mr.Khris, because I do and it looks like sh''t, and FYI professional looking does not mean crappy looking.

I do not personally own one (I own an m1330), however I've seen them/used them in person and find them to be very attractive.
If you don't like the looks of it, why would you a) order one, and b) keep it?
Perhaps a "Flamingo Pink" Inspiron is more suited to your tastes.

...and now back to topic...
The Axim's weren't bad devices. My mom has a relatively old one and it's still working strong. I think that if dell put their minds to the drawing board they could create a decent little device... but what carriers would it be on... hrm.

Uhm.....this is back on topic? I think you're in the wrong thread pumpkin.

My fault... I hit back and by the time all of the ads reloaded it scrolled back to another part of the page... damn ads.
Sorry for my mistake.

I can't wait to get one!! I'm hoping my employer will be able to snag one for me, but if not I might have to just buy it myself.

The Dell Vostro was obviously designed to be ugly ... Dell was very savvy in creating a machine targeted toward a specific market niche that is price-sensitive and willing to sacrifice styling to get performance. By making the Vostro ugly, Dell could tap that market niche without undermining the status and prices of its other products. I wanted a cute Inspiron lap top when I but my Vostro last week, but I couldn't justify the extra couple hundred bucks for a brushed aluminum case surrounding a basically identical machine.
Without the Vostro, there was a significant chance that Dell would have lost my purchase to whatever had the deepest discount at the Big Box store last week -- even though I might have ended up with a brand in which I had a lot less confidence. The introduction of the Vostro line made the pie bigger for Dell, and so far, I'm pretty darn happy with mine -- even though it is heavy and major f-ugly......

I'm sorry you feel that it was "designed to be ugly", and I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with you.
It was a new product line designed to be not as expensive as the Latitudes, and not have the flashy lights/features of the Consumer lines.

I've used the older models with XP. These laptops are really nice. They are super small, light and powerful. I would love to have one as my home computer.

you all realize that the latitude xt is a tablet, right?
Doesn't make sense to me to think that anecdotally liking the old Latitudes is going to matter much with Dell's gen1 tablet.
