Apparently, DirecTV isn't looking to pay its lawyers any overtime over the holiday break, as it has been settling outstanding lawsuits recently like it's going out of style. Just over a week after it
put aside its differences with Cox, the satellite provider has decided to make amends with Comcast over a suit
filed in May. If you'll recall, DirecTV was quite flustered by Comcast's "survey," which allegedly found that two-thirds of respondents preferred Comcast's HD picture over that offered up by DISH Network / DirecTV. Notably, the actual terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but spokespeople from both outfits affirmed that they were satisfied with the outcome -- which, by the way, does allow Comcast to continue to cite the survey.

lol @ Direct TV. All they have going for them is NFL direct ticket. I'm not a huge Comcast fan (mainly beacause of their business practices), but I'll take them over satallite anyday!

I guess you haven't heard the news that the have close to 100 HD channels now. Haven't watched a SD channel for a few months now.

Yes, we'd all like to have satellite tv on our free e-ink watches but you'll have to be patient like the rest of us.

Interesting that Comcast is not going to fight the ad any more.

LOL@directv. They may have a gazillion HD feeds, but they are downrezed (1440x1080) and re-encoded 2nd generation pseudo HD copies. Their network locals are H.264 2nd gen copies. Comcast, evil as they are, does not re-encode: you get the original bits. On a 120" screen (my screen) the difference, is pretty obvious. D* HD feeds are dull, lacking detail and artifact heavily when in motion. But I'm sure most D* think they're aweseome, and they are compared to the low bitrate nodef garbage they pass off as "SD."
There was a time when D* bragged about "laserdisc" quality or "digital quality." Now it's just "digital-quality." The addition of the hyphen is critical as it lets you know that all DirecTV content has an obvious digital quality about it.
Go DirecTV marketing! You rock! Your video quality on the other hand sucks monkey ass.
