Ask a Beta Tester: Exotic weapons, furbolgs, and more

Hi there, and welcome back to Ask a Beta Tester after its little Sunday break! If you're new to the column, then just 'welcome' instead of 'welcome back' and if that's the case allow me to explain! Have a question about the Wrath beta? We have an answer! Probably. Just ask in the comments section below, and we'll try to answer you in a future episode. Now, let's get started!

CactusHam asked...

I noticed on the Description of the Shaman's Maelstrom Weapon (and maybe its in other places as well, but this is where I saw it) that in addition to requiring axes, maces, staves and daggers it also requires "One handed Exotics, Two Handed Exotics" as well as "miscellaneous". I'm curious about what seems to be a new weapon type? Is this a new weapon type? If so, what classes can use "exotics"? And what exactly is an "exotic?"

Exotic weapons are unique NPC items. If you've ever used something like WoW Modelviewer, the Exotic category contains things such as Maiev's huge chakram thingy or whatever it is. It's not something players will ever get their hands on. It's sort of like the armor sets you see on Wowhead and Thottbot that have the listing of which races can wear it, and races such as Fel Orc and Naga are listed. That doesn't mean we'll get playable Fel Orcs and Naga, it means if they're putting together an NPC that uses those racial models they can use that armor to play dress up with. Fel Orc did technically come into play at the Netherwing Ledge, but meh. Yeah, that's right. Meh.

Are they increasing the amount of quests you can have active at any one time? Also, I'm guessing they are upping the amount of dailies you can complete in one day as well?

The limit is still 25 quests in your log, and 25 daily quests per day. They haven't raised any limits.

palatank asked...

What's the minimum profession level to learn new Wrath recipes?

Most professions start at 350 in Wrath of the Lich King. If you're 375 already you can pick up a whole load of new recipes right off the bat. If you're only at 350, you'll be able to learn a couple of new ones to ease you into Wrath's tradeskills. You can always hit wotlk.wowhead.com to be 100% sure if your profession starts at 350 or 355 or whatever, there might be slight differences from tradeskill to tradeskill.

Durana asked...

Will you be able to donate Frostweave to increase your reputation with the old world home factions (Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Darkspear Trolls, ect.)? Or will I still be running Scholomance/Stratholme for runecloth?

I hope you enjoy Stratholme. You're still stuck with Runecloth. Alternatively, you can run Alterac Valley and do the various turn-ins for reputation if you want a change of scenery. No Frostweave turn-ins, though.

stunts01 asked...

If you wear the same faction tabard as the faction dungeon you are running do you receive extra rep?

No.

Sirg asked...

What can you tell us about furbolgs in Northrend? It's one of my favourite races, and I would like to see a faction or some furbolg related quests.

There's quite a bit about Furbolgs in the Grizzly Hills. Not a full faction, but a lot of quests and a lot of history. They've set up shop in an old, failed world tree, Vordrassil. I don't want to spoil too much, so we'll leave it at that.

Vivimord asked...

Any word or sign of Atiesh being implemented in WotLK?

None.

Stigg asked...

What would you say is the best tree for leveling as a druid? Is feral still on top or is moonkin more efficient for leveling?

What do you like playing more? I know that's a terribly cliche question, but that's what it's going to come down to. Feral is very, very good, but Moonkin are pretty great as well. What do you want to play? You can probably get to level 80 without spending any talent points, so just decide what you enjoy most.
