hopefully silverthorne can deliver a bump in both processor speed and battery life. those are the only two things that my n800 is lacking right now. i'd love to see what nokia comes out with in the new year.
y'know .. this thing just might be a n810 (or at least it appears to be running Maemo, the OS that powers the n810)
Just take a look in the video when he launches an application, the launch notification looks just like Maemo, and so does that photo application's toolbar at the bottom...
Or, maybe I'm crazy... Or, maybe I'm up too late...
Maemo and Moblin are built on the same UI framework, called Hildon. Intel/Ubuntu et al. weren't satisfied with Maemo as a whole, so they took the UI specification and built moblin around it (www.moblin.org). I am guessing that is why there are similarities between the two platforms.
That device has a vile looking interface. Reminds me of iPhone but not as pretty. It's like iphone with vomit. I don't see the appeal. Maybe one of those cool all touch screen devices intel has been waving around will be nice assuming it doesnt turn out to be vaporware.
Well its not really vaporware considering that intel never passed it off as anything but a concept. They had a mock up this year too and said that it wouldn't even be an acheivable form for another year.
I'd link you to the video, but that would be a bit redundant seeing as how it's right in the article. Here's the quote:
"--Is this something that will be available in the united states anytime soon?" "--...when it comes to the US is still to be seen."
Translation: I'm not going to give you a straight answer because displaying products in a country that we have no intention on selling them in would make me look like a moron, so I'm just going to leave the possibility open without giving you any real information.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
This is astoundingly like an n810. Really, it is.

Either way, it's really cool.

Nice! Thanks for the info-- I'm going to go check that out and see if I can cross compile that launcher application for my n800 :)
I'll probably run into some screen bandwidth issues though... darn framebuffer!

Looks like Iphone and WM5 had a sexy time!

DOUCHE! You're at an electronics convention in LAS VEGAS, UNITED STATES displaying products that will never be sold in that country!
When did they say it wouldn't be available in the U.S.?
Where has it ever been written that CES is only for U.S. consumer devices?
I want to know more about the $600 lenovo mid running linux on a menlow ... and I want to know it now please.
