Another year, another Microsoft booth. Truth be told, nothing really too exciting was going on with the cats from Redmond. Sure, they had their Zunes, PCs, and all manner of Windows-powered devices, but it just seemed a little... flat. Maybe it's the specter of Gates' final keynote haunting the scene. Take a look at the gallery and judge for yourself.

Dave @ Jan 8th 2008 10:25PM
but where is WinMo 6.1?

Engadget do your homework a bit. Maybe if you take your eyes off steve jobs and Apple you can do some real reporting.
I watched BillG's keynote. There were some interesting developments. Do you know BT (in UK) now offers Mediaroom(IPTV) on Xbox 360. BT customers can use their xbox as a set top box.
Nicholas FitzRoy-Dale @ Jan 8th 2008 11:35PM
Er, you did notice that Engadget liveblogged Bill's speech, right, and then followed that up with an interview with Bill later? The "Engadget are a bunch of Apple fanboys!" troll is looking really tired.

They also reported 10 million users on Xbox live, and Xbox revenue (games+Hardware+accessories) beat PS3 and Nintendo revenue for the same COMBINED - for 2007.
Christian @ Jan 9th 2008 12:20AM
Wait... what's that? Despite those amazing sales, the entire Xbox project is still losing money hand over fist? Hard to believe!
John @ Jan 9th 2008 12:46AM
actually, I'm pretty sure they had their first profitable quarter last year. And if you want to talk "hand over fist", let's look at PS3 profitability, eh?

yeah, they had their first profitable quarter last time around. but the stats they published were for total 2007 revenue, which includes the first quarter of fiscal year 2008.
Brad @ Jan 9th 2008 10:43AM
they're saving up everything for MacWorld next week and the release of Office 2008 no doubt

I don't know. I thought the live Surface applications provided sufficient "cool" factor. It's not a consumer device, but a biz-to-consumer platform. Let T-mobile or Applebees spend all that money, benfitting your experience as their customer. You, in-turn, will reward them with repeat business, and redmond nirvana is realized again.
Plus, coffee-table miss pacman was the ultimate form factor, circa 1987, for me to own the top score list at the local Pizza Hut.
