The Cobra Commander USB drive
How do you make a Cobra Commander USB thumb drive? Joe Michaels walks you through the process, which includes things like Dremels, two-part epoxy, x-acto knives, J-B Weld, and of course a USB stick and a Cobra Commander figurine. Hit up the forum, take notes, and then you'll know ...

Where's the ubiquitous photograph of Veronica Belmont? Veronica USB drive for the win!
Ssssssssssssssssssweet!
I once made a bong out of a pineapple
Seriously? I just made a joke about that the other day while with a friend at WinCo. Was right by the apples so it brought up the subject.
You know something is wrong when this is the highest ranked comment...
lol
wow, this is incredibly stupid. imagine if i went to college with a usb drive like that. this may be the most ridiculous thing ever.
said the guy with a pikachu avatar!
They need to make one from the golden era, the 60's, not this 80's crap.
I'm in love. This is so nifty, it's rejuvenating my Halloween costume idea I discarded last year.
i have a usb drive in my watch
It would be cool if there's no white stuff all-over the head. Can't be that hard to grip without it.
^^ childish. At best.
kill me...now I've seen it all...
Knowing may be half the battle, but few people realize that the other half is violence.
Dammit! I WAS GOING TO SAY THAT!
oh well....I'll just finish for ya..
"G-I Joe!"
The ultimate secure USB drive... Well almost, could only get better if it was a Chuck Norris flash drive.
old meme is oooooooooooold.
you invoked the name of Chuck Norris in a pansy boy blog??!! Jesus.... your in for it now. Remember, Chuck Norris does not hunt; he kills...
the question is..
can it hold doom?
that would look like ass hangingout of my laptop
For those of you who missed it the first dozen times I posted it:
Step 1: Buy cheap piece of technology at a garage sale.
Step 2: Buy nostalgic toy at another garage sale.
Step 3: Rip guts out of tech, and stick tech guts into toy.
Step 4: Sell on eBay and/or show everybody on tech blogs how you can glue crap into other crap for nostalgia points.
Step 5: Watch as I roll my eyes as yet another "nostalgic toy with modern tech guts" item makes it way online, spurring fanboys into praising the "modder" for doing something nobody wanted done in the first place.
I'll be in my trailer if anyone wants me.
I'm going to stick an iPhone's guts into an old He-Man doll. Anybody want to buy it? Only $5,000
Maybe instead I'll make a Voltron with a Garvin GPS in it, or a Teddy Ruxpin with the brains of an Apple Newton.
Oh, I know--- I'll stuff an OLPC into a Millennium Falcon Play-set. The fanboys will LOVE that.
Gag. Me.
It would appear you are the only one in love with yourself.
I was just thinking how cool it would be to have my childhood buddy He-Man turned into a phone. Then maybe I wouldn't look so crazy when I start talking to him.
I want to make fun of him and lower his score more, but he makes a valid point. =/
Now for a Baroness USB drive and plug both in side by side...
and knowing is half the battle...
This would be great to store all those GIJoe Voice-over videos, Lol.
I still actually have all my GIJoe collection from when I was a child (about 20-30 of them), a couple ninja turtles, and some decapitated barbie doll heads (don't ask). I think I have a papa smurf in there somewhere too, he was always the boss when I made everyone fight.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to have the USB connector sticking out the BACK and use a 'backpack' as a cap? It would seem more 'GI Joe'-like and less 'I made this at home in my spare time'. Not to mention the silliness of having a headless action figure sticking out of your PC.
No, ZeroCorpse is right, sometimes these things just aren't worth mentioning.
An Xbox shoved into a Millenium Falcon... ok, that's cool for about a minute and is worthy of being shown and bragged about.
But a USB drive in a GI Joe? Here's why no one else has done it before: Because it's EASY. I think a mod is only worth mentioning if it shows effort and complexity.
It reminds me of the episode of Flight of the Conchords where Jermaine gets his camera phone stolen... it's an old Nokia glued to a cheap 35MM camera. LMAO. But knowing engadget, they would devote an article to such a camera-phone and give you the link to the how-to video.
Speaking of which, let me mention some products I will soon be selling on ebay:
- Play-Doh USB stick mod (custom to order, available in 7 colors, swirly colors extra; item may settle... or, uh flatten, during shipping)
- Styrofoam coffee cup USB HUB mod (also available in special edition Starbucks paper cup... once I finish my caramel macchiato)
- LED toilet paper holder (LEDs flash as you spin)
- Plush Garfield MP3 player/speaker mod. Mini-jack strategically placed, 2 inch speaker modded into mouth and player stores in the stomach. Fun for... well, no one really.
Anway, I don't want to totally crap all over someone's efforts. Good work, but no reason for us to gush in our panties over it. Go to Target and make your own, it's not gonna be that hard. (And if you act now, Target has new Joe figures that look more like the 80s figures... like Zartan and Stalker, et al.).
Wassssssss a toy......wasssssss a toyyyyyyyyyyy.....
Hmm, I agree with the head issue. Should've been a removable backpack.
It looks like Powdered Toast Man!
