Audiovox's CES 2008 booth tour

Just in case you didn't get your fill of Audiovox from our liveblog of Monday's press conference, we've got a full booth tour for your to feast your eyes on, featuring new products from the 'Vox along with family members Jensen, RCA, TERK, and Acoustic Research. Sure, these companies might not produce the flashiest or most popular devices on the market, but what they lack in panache they make up for in affordability -- and in a few cases, as we noticed during our tour, unique functionality. Hit the link below for the full walkthrough, including a shot of a special Engadget fan.

I hope CES didn't pay the pimp my ride guy to be there.
Anyway, I've always thought of Audiovox stuff to be pretty cheaply made. I steer clear of it. What's everyone else think? Should I give the Vox a chance?

I kind of put them in the same boat as DuraBrand.

Well they aren't top of the line goods. The Jensen product is fairly well made but doesn't often stand the test of time.
I've seen Jensen head units fail after less than 2 years of use. They renamed their old Audiovox Rampage line to Phase Linear, most of the head units are cassette decks. They had a 10 Disc changer that looked ugly as hell but that thing worked forever.
Their LCD seem to be really good quality but I don't know of any major retailers that stock them.

... I've also seen Alpine units fail with just over a year of use.
I was not a happy camper.
