We were totally stoked to see eCoupled's "
Intelligent Wireless Power" system in action -- the rep even said they'd try and cook us a burger on their wireless Foreman grill -- but when Veronica got there, "power fluctuations" kept them from demoing anything more than a Zune that lit up when placed directly on a charging pad. VB was way too nice to call them out on video, but come on -- you don't run around promising wireless burgers and then barely compete with a
WildCharger. Check out Veronica's barely-concealed boredom after the break.

veronica appears to be tired of all these videos

She is getting cuter and cuter every day
:)

Sorry for taking a high place by replying on this comment but:
Engadget common, this looks so unproffesional to put Veronica on a lot of articles about new gadgets just to make us readers happy. Veronica is most of the time 10 times more visible in the image then the gadget itself. Maybe a special Veronica section for some readers?
Don't get me wrong, I DO like woman offcourse ^^.
Reader @ Jan 10th 2008 2:42AM
Haha I love the picture... It screams "take the fucking picture so I can go to sleep" or something along the lines of that.
Logboy @ Jan 10th 2008 2:46AM
LOL I was just going to comment that she looks about as tired of getting her picture taken as I am of seeing her.

I totally agree with Michiel Krol, even though she looks pretty even with that obviously fake smile. =)

I CAN HAS MOAR VERONICA?
Student Driver @ Jan 10th 2008 1:59PM
Well, now I know what is behind Mona Lisa's smile: boredom. However, the painting would have been more interesting if she also held up something that didn't work as advertised.

Hmm, should I go with a Veronica-is-hot joke here?
Maybe I could tie it in with power and heat...
Turtle @ Jan 9th 2008 10:16PM
Betty was always much hotter. And Doonesbury was Jughead's love child.
rawhead @ Jan 9th 2008 11:26PM
Frankly, I was getting tired of seeing her face on every other Engadget article these past few days but... I dunno, something about this particular shot of her, looking really bored and exhausted and... ennui... it's really sexy ;)
kenboy127 @ Jan 10th 2008 10:12PM
she is pretty hot
Chris @ Jan 9th 2008 10:07PM
These things are sweet, but I still don't quite get how the whole wireless power thing works. Sure would be nice to cut cords to a minimum around the house.
abark @ Jan 9th 2008 10:35PM
It works the same way a cordless toothbrush charges when connected to its base station. It works via inductive charging. The intelligence of this system comes from freqency modulation of the primary coil in relation to the secondary which is located in the device. The secondary communicates with the primary to achieve optimal efficiency. I worked with eCoupled to implement this system in our product line but it proved to be too expensive for our application.
Chris @ Jan 9th 2008 10:47PM
Oh wow, sweet. Thank you very much. I look forward to the day when these are on these market and affordable.
scott @ Jan 10th 2008 12:52AM
Induction-based charging, i think its been around for a while. The only other product that comes to mind that has ever used this (for charging) was that Microsoft/Abacus MSN Wristwatch a year or 2 ago.

Jonathon @ Jan 10th 2008 10:11AM
To continue on with abark. We are always talking about wanting more battery life, but I think that the real breakthrough will be in faster charging. Just imagine if you could still get your same run times, but to top off the batteries all you had to do was "swipe" (ok might take a little longer than that) your gadget across a pad and you had several more hours.

She doesn't look THAT bored. But since it's a Zune, she probably should. Anybody else remember that Munsters episode where Grandpa and Herman are fooling around with wireless power and Lily's beauty-parlor customers all end up bald? And then a day later they grow it all back blonde? Somebody Photoshop this lady blonde. Or as Herman Munster.

Tom @ Jan 9th 2008 10:27PM
Can we PLEASE stop with the "She's hot" comments? I'm sure she was flattered with the first 10 postings of this same exact comment, but I think it gets a little old - even for her. A lot of girls would even consider that degrading, so please have some respect and put some freaking useful content into your comments.

Sean @ Jan 9th 2008 10:25PM
Hehe, she does look tired....but she's so pretty in this picture! I really question the photographer's choice on this one- who wants to look at the product when the alternative is a gorgeous girl. Now if the product WAS a gorgeous girl, that would be a different story....
eidorian @ Jan 9th 2008 10:32PM
HAHAHAH Veronica looks really tired / bored! but shes still hot

That pic is just begging for Captions
"I'm so bored I bet can stuff this whole thing in my mouth"
ghost @ Jan 9th 2008 11:56PM
Exactly. Why do we have to see her every time? It's not like we see Ryan's grill every time he reports on a product. She's a girl, whoopee! Leave her out of the pics and the story.
jaredwork @ Jan 9th 2008 10:46PM
Wireless power is definitely a nifty idea. Wonder how long before I'll be able to charge up an electric car just by driving through a gas station :D
As a sidenote; Veronica is a vision of beauty.
Donk @ Jan 9th 2008 11:09PM

btw, Veronica is hawt.
mattbates @ Jan 10th 2008 1:24AM
1. i think this is awesome.
2. i really enjoy how veronica seems to get hotter each picture.
3. i think the reason they show her in every picture is because of the male dominated geek gadget market. no one wants to see some dude holding up some overhyped gadget because that isn't anything special. an attractive girl is, though.
natural mike @ Jan 10th 2008 2:03AM
yum.
euclid @ Jan 10th 2008 2:40AM
maybe i'll start posting some really degrading shit about Veronica to stop her face from appearing on every damn article.
