I hope we get this system before we get the white PS3. This is the best looking PS3 color option yet.

The black version of the PS3 looks the best. So does the elite 360. You have to understand most people have a Home Theater system composed of Black Components. Black HDTV/Plasma, Black Receiver and Speaker Setup, and most times a black case.
While having a silver or white PS3 may look great initially it stands out too much in a setup. Why do you think so many people wanted to purchase the Elite and were so excited about a new color?

Wow. If you think that's 80s then you have a **really** different perspective on the 80s than I do -- and all of my teenage years were in the 80s. Personally, I like the silver more than the black version, but that's just preference.

Agreed. If they HAVE to amke things a black colour, then at least make them matte not gloss like the 360 Elite.
i just got a silver one - it looks nice. it's NOT glossy like the other 2. our office black ps3 looked lame with fingerprints all over it. the matte silver is a nice finish. but, i really would have preferred matte black. to each his own.

Going by the packaging, the days of free movies or games are over. Silver is nice, but the black ones would go with everything.

Agreed. I find silver plastic just about the worst, short of bad pink renditions. Now if it were REAL metal, that's totally different. But plastic has that cheap look by default, and silver plastic has that cheap look squared. Sure, glossy black attracts fingerprints and isn't practical. But this silver stuff, yuck.
I would assume this is the same silver paint they use on the PSP slim and their Sony reader, among other products. If that's the case then this unit will look pretty snazzy.
Nothing says late 90's early 00's better than metallic silver electronics.

The awful Spider-Man font is a deal breaker for me.
If it makes you feel better, that font was used before any of the spiderman movies. I first saw it used on the poster for the movie Equilibrium. I have the DVD in my shelf right now. Its too bad the font got associated with Spiderman...
It's too bad they destroyed ten years of solid branding, here here. Looks tacky and crap and out of step with the PlayStation brand. I've never thought the PLAYSTATION 3 looks like a PlayStation product.
I got my PS3 80gb(blk), my 360 Elite(blk), now all I need is to sell my useless white Wii and buy a black useless Wii.
