Nintendo's Wii Fit and WiiWare on-line game service coming Stateside in May
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo plans to begin shipping its Wii Fit with weight and motion sensing Balance Board in May. Nintendo will also make good on a new online gaming game distribution service dubbed WiiWare. Right, that homebrew happy service which should result in vast quantities of cheap and innovative content previously only available in Johnny Chung Lee's imagination.

I, for one, cannot wait until people start complaining that their warranties were voided because their....roundness led to the annihilation of their Balance Board.
Those lawsuits will be delicious.
I *love* the American legal system. Better than cable, you cannot make this stuff up.

You know that Square are developing something on wiiware right...?
Might actually be quite successful.

Ian @ Feb 20th 2008 11:48AM
really?? huh no shit damn well im glad they followed my advice!! lol

Well, SSX Blur obviously doesn't use the Balance Board, but it does use the wiimote for the tricks and it works beautifully despite all the negative reviews written by impatient, uncoordinated people. That is still one of my all time favorite Wii games. I really hope they make another SSX game for the Wii and improve on the mechanics even more.

I always see these stocked up in the stores. I wonder how they'll do in the U.S. The commercials show various fitness routines and some Yoga, for obvious reasons, but it did show some hula-hoop type game and I think a skiing simulation. They sell for ¥8800 here. (About $80 U.S.)

Ummm, Wii Fit has sold over a million units here in Tokyo, if you actually live here. It smoked Super Mario Galaxy even. I see people walking home with the Wii Fit box in hand all the time.
And I've tried it at a friend's house, it's fun, but for how long? Who knows.

Ummm, did you see that funny "Y" symbol with the lines? That stands for "Yen".
As in, "Japanese Yen"...

Uhh... what?
JET @ Feb 20th 2008 9:22AM
The Square game is Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. It should be available at launch (5/19), along with platformer LostWinds (by Frontier) and an as-yet-untitled episodic series by TellTale.

I wonder why it took so long to get it here in the US.
It's been out in Japan for "long-time".
